Spurs have apparently bought up Whitewebbs Golf Course with a view to building an NFL camp - yet continue to plead poverty when it comes to transfers.

Is this good business or is it a case of ‘there used to be a football club over there...’?

ENIC have their fingers in so many pies but I suspect if they are doing that it means they are definitely going to be here for the next few years.

Every investment company which owns a football club, which is them all bar a few, are trying to increase revenue through different methods. We don't have the global reach of Liverpool or Man Utd so are being more creative, stadium/NFL than those 2 who want a closed European competition and exclusive TV rights.
The only thing Enic are doing wrong in my eyes is not putting a stong club structure in place to define a playing ethos and transfer policy.

This was probably planned in the whole stadium/ NFL deal. There will be a plan how this will be financed and turn into more profit longterm. Its a completely different investing compared to player speculations and its wrong to make any comparision to transfers.

And the last two years there is no poverty when it comes to transfers. We have spent a significant amount...

Depends how you look at it, from a business view it’s a good move as if there is ever a London NFL team they’d make a killing from stadium and the NFL camp if that’s what it will be.
Then from a football fan view it’s annoying as you want all the money spent on the club.

I don’t find it annoying in the slightest.

It’s prudent to increase and diversify revenue streams and it’s what Levy is good at and as others have mentioned this was likely in the works for some time, ergo before our footballing performances fell off a cliff.

It will in all likelihood have minimal short term impact to the football side of things and mid to long term will likely benefit it (pandemic permitting).

This why levy needs to step aside from football side of club and focus on what he really is good at the building infustructure

ENIC: Shall we buy land with a guaranteed return on the investment or the next Matt Doherty?

The NFL positioning clearly benefits ENIC. Whilst the highest ticket prices in football are not translating into a premium football supporting experience. And that’s born out by our transfer policy.

I guess I’m wondering where the benefit is in all this, or is it really going to be 25 years before we see any.

Not wishing to interrupt your bashing of our club but how do you know “Spurs” bought the golf course and not say ENIC ?

I can’t imagine that this land cost anything like the transfer fee and wages of a premier league player, nor do I think it’s an overly fair stone to cast after the comparatively decent outlay last summer.

Fair point. I guess I saw that it was for NFL and interpreted it to be ENIC’s main focus rather than THFC.

Last summer we were still spending 4 x seasons of CL money, I believe. We’re currently told we’re back to having to sell before we can buy.

Thats because we are suffering from a heavy set back in revenue due to a pandemic. You can google that.

You know we need to pay off a brand new top of the tops stadium as well?

You would have a point if we sell Kane and Son and invest less than we got, but so far you haven't a fair point at all.

They don't invest in anything that's not planned to bring more money back in, let's hope it's a Spurs invest and not an ENIC one.

We've gone a year without any income to speak of and are already down £140m from previous transfers still to be paid.

The only annoying thing is how can Levy and the board be focused on their property empire and running the club.

It’s clear that Harry will become a kicker sooner rather than later. Possibly even next season

Let’s be honest we’d all rather get changed in the bigger East Stand facilities

The London Spurs are coming. WooHoo

I've seen this apparent purchase mentioned on the interweb a few times in recent weeks

But there's no confirmation of it actually happening as far as I'm aware

Nothing on Right Move or Zoopla :cautious:
