I think we just need 3 signings.

1- priority should be another top class CM, I hope Gareth Barry.

2- Then we need to improve upfront because the likes of 1-0 or 2-1 is worring thing, we need a target man, Pav is very good in the air and has strong right foot, which mean he can score outside the box, it is his first season and that's why i would keep him instead of Bent, but i just hope we are after new target man is someone 'strong physicaly' and quicker than Keane & Pav ( at least )

3- A center back who can cover both positions, CB and LB, to cover King & Ekotto, and leave Bale as our main LM and 3rd LB option, what about Bassong ? Upson ? Distan ? Heinze ?

I would keep Bentley as backup for Lennon, we are lucky enough Lennon was available for the whole season and at his best, we can't expect that happen next season, but it's clear that we need to sell to invest more in transfer market. If Harry is after cheap replacement like Beckham ( who is available for Free ) or keeping an eye on Taarabt development, that's would be fine, despite I would be sad for Bentley as he would like to do it here and he is good player.

I would swap - Bentley,Hutton and Zokora for Barry and Johnson.
I would swap - Pavlyuchenko for Dzeko.

If needed Barry can also cover LB and Johnson can cover RW.

I'd love Bassong.

Yeah, I'll take Bassong, Barry and one of those football manager strikers that are meant to be all singing/all dancing that you're all going on about from the Bundesliga.

I'm pretty sure most that have said names actually watch European football rather than base their opinions from a computer game

I'm pretty sure you haven't met most of the people on here and your opinion of them is based on what you've read on your computer :)

I'm pretty sure he was just joking, if he had thought these strikers had been selected purely because of a computer game I doubt he would have used them for his own summer transfer wants.

It was tongue in cheek as I don't watch the bundesliga, lique 1 or serie a because the bore me to tears and all these names (pandev, dzeko etc...) are completely new to me and seem to have only been raved about in the last fortnight, right at the business end of the football manager season ;-)

In all seriousness I'd trust the several SC members who rave about such players who actually watch them week in week out. If they reckon we can get a player who will score more than Bent and has a better touch and more physical presence than Pav then I'm all for it.

I'm guessing the point of this thread has been completely lost then. One player. Who would it be?

Hangeland would not leave to become our sub when he could probably get first team football for the goons or villa. In fact playing week in week out for fulham with Europa football is a more attractive option than our bench. I know the King situation makes things a little different, but I really can't see why one of the EPL's best defenders would be happy to play second fiddle.

I think Hangeland, would easily get 40 games (including cups) in a season swapping with Woody and King. At first he would have to break into our team gently as we have made the mistake of introducing too many new players to the first team in the past, we shouldn't make that mistake again.

I think you've strolled outside the realms of possibility with that one. They have to be at least nominally possible. But if he wouldn't go to Man City for a bunch of cash, he ain't coming here.

If Liverpool gave us £20m for Robbie Keane, anything's possible.

I don't understand why so many of you want Barry ?

What position would he improve ?

Compare his stats to Jenas:

------------------------Jenas-------Barry

minutes per tackle-------38----------34
minutes per pass--------1.9----------2.8
minutes per goal---------822---------470
minutes per assist--------616--------658

I've highlighted in bold the better stat. Jenas is two years younger as well. Those stats don't scream vast improvement do they ?

Barry would have been a good signing 3 or 4 years ago, but now ? We must be aiming higher. Barry just doesn't pass well enough or get round the pitch as well as Jenas.
