The transfer window is finally open again but who do you think will be the first signing?

I think it will AN Other foreign player, under the radar and unexpected.

Marco Borriello or perhaps even Mario Gomez are my big hopes in that department. Either would be an ideal Berbatov replacement.

Borriello is injured though and might not pass a medical before the month is out and Gomez wont be at all cheap.

Or as a bargin DM perhaps Radoslav Kovac or Kostas Katsouranis.

Katsouranis is going to Milan on loan i believe.
Gomez won't be leavin Germany until the summer at the earliest.

I wonder if Veloso would still be on the radar or if that is now off the radar now that Harry is in charge. That was one of the transfers i was really hoping for in the last window. Not that i know too much about him, but he came across as the ideal replacement for Carrick.

It will be Defoe first IMO, followed by another big name in the middle of January.

Seems like 'Arry is taking the sensible approach;

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp insists he will not be forced to pay over the odds for transfer targets in January.

Redknapp, who took over at White Hart Lane in October, is keen to tweak the squad he inherited from Juande Ramos and a £6million bid for West Ham's Craig Bellamy has already been rejected.

Portsmouth trio Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson are also on former Fratton Park boss Redknapp's radar as he looks to haul Spurs up the Premier League table.

However, Redknapp insists he will only open his chequebook if the price is right during January.

Target
He said: "I don't think we'll be splashing vast amounts. The chairman asked who I'd want if we could get them. If we can end up with a couple then great.

"You get agents calling up offering players and it would only cost you your job if you took them.

"I know exactly what I want and it is a waste of time calling up for anyone else. I have a very short list of players that interest me and if we can get them then great."

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing is the latest player to have emerged as a Spurs target.

When asked about the England international Redknapp added: "If they want to sell him and the chairman can agree a fee - great. If not, forget it."

Average player with a primadonna attitude. Not what we need

Really? How about Moutinho? I've heard great things about him, although it seems he's destined for a Champions League Club. Maybe worth a go at getting him though? He's team captain if memory serves correct too. With him being so young i think we might stand a chance at bringing him in. I know Everton were tracking him in the summer, but they couldn't afford him.

Apparently he has no intention of joining Everton, I feel he may have higher ambitions than a club like us.

Too similar to Modric. The only CM we need IMO is a big steely holding DM.
