Why are we so hated?

Genuine question as I am really quite baffled as to why? I can understand fans having an axe to grind but it appears that the pure hatred runs down to the players of some clubs.

Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, Leicester - its bizarre.

I love the fact that they do as the feeling is mutual from my perspective. I think Poch was right, people are beginning to run scared of what we can become.

Leicester don't hate us, we were just their only rivals this season.

Chelsea, cos they know deep down that they have no history and don't deserve any success. They are jealous of us for being a proper football club.

West Ham are jealous. We always seem to be at least one or two steps ahead.

Arsenal - it's the north London thing.

We are hated by the London teams and the feeling is mutual. If we were chasing Manchester City for the title for example then the hate wouldn't have been so strong. We would have got more credit too. This is a fantastic story for Leicester, but an even bigger one for the media.

In a long thread on Twitter, a Chelsea fan told me 'we' HATE Tottenham and that's why they held the ball and ran down the clock yesterday. I bet he doesn't even know why. Probably because he thinks he's supposed to. Obviously there's more to it than just being in the same city.

I don't get the perception that some have of 'Spurs fans'. Everyone seems to have bad words about us. Maybe the doughnuts who call in on TalkSport give the rest of us a bad name? Otherwise I'm at a loss.

Not sure why some teams supporters have a bee in their bonnet about us, but really I couldn't care less!

I dont think we are that hated. Just think the leicester fairytale story got alot of people carried away, and all kinds of people suddenly wanted them to win.
The other players and fans have certainly seen what we are capable of, that we have a young squad with real quality. And a excellent manager. I think most of the "top clubs"(and their fans) fear us more than leicester in the coming years.

With Chelsea and West ham its more to do what goes on off the field.

With Woolwich is self explanatory.

I would rather be hated than liked and pitied like Fulham ,Charlton,QPR and other joke london clubs...fuck them i say.

You'd think we'd be very popular this year.

Most goals scored
Fewest conceded
Fast pressing game
English core to the team
Youngest average age
etc etc

all of which should appeal to the neutral.

I have been baffled as to why Leicester with their ugly tactics, ugly brand of football, soiled players etc are such 'heroes'.

Some of our own tactics are less than beautiful. Easy to be one-eyed!

The other question is why we are so hated by the media, especially Sky and the BBC. Does anybody know? Maybe they are London based operations with a lot of Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans. Their pundits also stoke up the hatred but they decide to appoint them. Virtually every comment on Spurs on Sky comes from an ex-Arsenal player and virtually every game we play has an Arsenal pundit. How many Arsenal games have Spurs pundits? The way Sky and the BBC handle football shows just how much their political coverage can be trusted. Very disturbing.

Everyone loves the underdog... every now and again something like this happens. Wimbledon in the late 80s, Greece in 2004. Goes against the grain and people love it.

Also people hate those at the top, and whoever beats them. Who could honestly cared about man utd before 92, other than city and pool? 2 titles back to back and everyone was sick of them.

Comes with the territory of being the best.

Teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd etc realise we're a threat to the positions at the top of the league they think they have a divine right to. Teams below, West Ham, Everton, Liverpool etc are jealous of where we're going and how we're doing it.

Well, last night it was a full on rough and tumble from both sides, and chelsea should shoulder the blame there tbh, it was them that came out the traps fighting and kicking out etc ... not to mention their clear intention in the preceding weeks of winding us up. Which worked in the end ... other than that we're mid table on the fair play table. Neutral.

Chelsea and west ham always played second fiddle to us and can't break the habit, even now Chelsea with all their success, ours is the game they really want to win, it's a bit sad really.

Yep. We must learn self control in time for next season. It is a weakness our opponents will seek to exploit.
