Why are we so hated?

I've always considered Spurs to be the classy team of London. We're not helping our course any with some of our chants now though. The 'You're fucking shit' chants and the 'Arsenal fan on a string' chants aren't going to go down with other fans. We also need to be careful not to turn into a dirty team as well. I love that we fight for everything and we're no longer a soft touch as we have been in the past. Last night however we were very dirty. I'll put that down to the tension riding on the game and the fact that it was Chelsea so they deserve it. The good thing is we're not generally doing those things and we haven't had a red card all season. As long as we don't start diving and elbowing players it will be fine.

Any other season I think fans outside of London would be very supportive of Spurs. Unfortunately for us the Leicester story has taken some of the credit away from us.

The London clubs have an obvious rivalry with us. But we are hardly complimentary of Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham are we?

When Utd were regularly winning the league and we were 5th many of their fans were complimentary to us. Now we are doing better than them in the league their tone has changed.

Better to be disliked than patronised.

If this season we were chasing a moneybag club like City I think we'd have had the neutral support as the under dogs. But as Leicester were such a big under dog they got the support.

Poch needs to build a siege mentality this summer. Use the pain the players are feeling now and get them feeling everyone is against us, Fergie did it so well at United.

A lot of people love their clubs more than they love football, which when you really think about it, is actually a bit weird. They see Spurs as a threat to their clubs, so regardless of the footballing issues, they form their attitudes accordingly. if you step back a little away from that type of person, then you'll find a lot more people are indifferent or have a soft spot for Spurs.

Genuine question as I am really quite baffled as to why? I can understand fans having an axe to grind but it appears that the pure hatred runs down to the players of some clubs.

Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, Leicester - its bizarre.

I love the fact that they do as the feeling is mutual from my perspective. I think Poch was right, people are beginning to run scared of what we can become.
Leicester don't hate us: they've just got caught up in the emotion over the last few weeks. They would have hated any team that got in the way of their fairytale. As for the other teams that you mentioned, they are all London rivals and there has never been any love lost. Our season has probably got right up their noses too (albeit West Ham can't complain as they've had a great season).

You'd think we'd be very popular this year.

Most goals scored
Fewest conceded
Fast pressing game
English core to the team
Youngest average age
etc etc

all of which should appeal to the neutral.

I have been baffled as to why Leicester with their ugly tactics, ugly brand of football, soiled players etc are such 'heroes'.
I think that had we be going up against Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. then it would have been different but we love a plucky underdog in this country. Had we not been involved in the title race then I'm sure that we would have been rooting for them too (I definitely would and I wouldn't have given a stuff about their tactics). My only irritation is not towards Leicester but with the media who will milk it for weeks until we are all heartily sick of it.

I went to tesco this morning on an errand to pick up cake making ingredients and saw a Chelsea supporter who i've known since school walking in. I didn't particularly feel like talking to him so swerved left as I got in and made a bee-line for the cakey stuff, fully intending to get what I was ordered to get and get out again.

But life isn't that fucking simple, ohhhhh no. Just as I was passing the salad aisle I saw an old lady doddering around by the courgettes and just couldn't resist sneaking up behind her, whopping my old chap out and asking her how she liked my courgette.........Just as I was about to pop the old boy out, Chelsea fan turns the corner and starts fucking laughing. The ****.

So I picked up a couple of loose tomatoes and threw them at him, followed by a volley of aubergines, pumped some ****s and fucks into him and left, just as I reached the end of the aisle a couple of staff turned the corner to see what the fuss was about and I pointed to the old lady and said I think that bloke upset her.

Anyway, I didn't hang around, I got the ingredients I needed and left. Coffee & Walnut cake this afternoon. Lovely.

PS; I might be making some of the above up.

Chelsea and west ham always played second fiddle to us and can't break the habit, even now Chelsea with all their success, ours is the game they really want to win, it's a bit sad really.
Draw would be most appropriate..

And so we have gotten a higher level!

I think sensible neutral fans like us, but it is a little strange when I hear fans of Liverpool etc. talking about hating us.

Unfortunately I'd describe us as quite an easy club to have a pop at, due to our recent lack of success.

Fuck 'em.

They're no longer allowed to beat up their wives and GF's or attack people in the street due to their colour, sexuality or (perceived) religion, so they have to have something to take the strain.

We just happen to fill that gap in their meaningless lives. (y)
