"Spurs have been lacking pace in wide areas, and after missing out on Wilfried Zaha, Moussa Sissoko became the next big target to provide that"

Cue to what Poch said, it is likely that if the best 11 are needed, either Erikson, or Lamela (more likely) will make way.

He obviously is unaware we also have Son...who is very very quick.

The Independent these days is mostly work experience kids battering out approximations of stories so I'm not surprised that passed him by.

That's true about a lot of The Independent, but I think their sports section and some of their foreign staff are still good.

Poch wanted him, Levy backed Poch. If Poch can make him more consistent he could be a serious improvement to the squad, looking forward to seeing him play

To be fair 30m is somewhat extravagant - however it is widely accepted this window that is the current market... So either suck it up, or complain when we failed to sign targets...

My frustration lies in the fact we waited until the last possible second - yet didn't benefit from that patience. Had we three weeks ago said to Newcastle - here's 20m made it clear we wanted Moussa to join our side - it probably would have forced Newcastles hand somewhat. Townsend 13m - Moussa - 30m? I can't see the talent is worth twice the cost.

It means we were disorganised and not clear on who our targets were, as only the day earlier we were interested in Zaha for more than we got for Andros - which would have been poor business.

Overall I am happy with the window although I would have kept Mason - moved on Carroll, and offered Winks and co the opportunity to stake a claim for more game time.

No excuses this time though - time to perform in the cups, league and champions league!

it's understandable the frustration of last minute deals. If spurs had shown intent weeks ago then sissoko would have been sold for more, as everton are carried away with extra cash and don't know to do with it.

imagine Everton paying 60m for both bolasie and sissoko. So bottom line, wait till a bid was accepted by Newcastle, avoid any bidding war.

Interesting in that this puts the fee into some perspective. Not so much that we thought Sissoko was worth £30 mill but that he was the type of player we needed and it would hurt us more not to have that option.
If that interpretation is correct then I can see the sense in it.

Sissoko is an interesting signing. So often we buy players who are younger and will improve but this time we've bought an established international who at 27 should be at his peak and paid top dollar. Pace and power has been missing with Dembele out.
