Lots of stuff on here and on transfer forum about DM candidates. In my opinion we already have one - Teemu Tainio. Absolutely outstanding against L'Ar5e when he put Fabregas in his pocket. Has hardly been given a look in since then other than out of position. For me , put him in that DM position and he never lets us down. He plays like he has white and blue blood in his veins.
Better in that position than Zokora, Hudd or Jenas ( or some of the signings we are linked with ) I was amazed that we were apparently willing to offload him to Brum on deadline day.Someone has to do the fetching and carrying for Modric and why not TT ? We have lots of kids in our squad and Tainio can help bring them along.[/quote]

Totally agree I can understand with injury history that Teemu can't always be picked because of this, BUT last season he was actually better with injuries and was avalibe for a lot more games. When Teemu does play its is usally is LB/RB or LM and hardly ever in his prefered DM role I think he played this role maybe twice last season? , in what ever positon he plays he never lets us down and usually only makes mistakes because he has run himself into the ground or in some cases when JJ has gifted the ball to the opposistion and Teemu is in a state of shock about JJ usless tackling!! although I do maintain they are the strongest midfield pairing and JJ does seem to shine when playing alongside TT.

The highlighted point i totally agree with, it has already been talked about that Teemu is rumoured to be one of the first senior players to support and give gudience to the youngsters and this is just as important as what he does for the team on the pitch. Teemu as far as I can tell from reports and interviews with mangement and players is very highly thought off within the squad, and one that takes genuine intrest in the sqaud as a whole and the development of youngsters, I'm sure I read somewhere that he wants to stay at the club and become a coach and help the devlopment of the youngsters and I for one think he would be great at this. He would be a good role model for the players and his passion for the club would rub off on the players.

One other thing looking at the footage on spurs tv and the pictures from Pre season Teemu is looking really fit and hopefully that is a sign of things to come, I hope he stays and is given a chance to play in his DM role either way he is a reliable squad player.

I don't like these accusations of terrible injury problems levelled at Teemu - he's had a total of one bad season injury-wise. Last season he was generally fit and available for selection. He's no unbreakable man but people are making far, far too much out of a player who at worst could be described as 'slightly injury-prone'.

I also think, seeing the amount of Teemu pictures featured on the OS, that he might not be nearly as close to the exit door as people think.

They've left Rocha and Gardner at home to train with the kids - they're obviously as good as gone if we get a half-decent offer, but the players they've taken to Spain are clearly those Ramos wants to work with. Perhaps he'd like to see how fit Teemu can be after a full Alvarez pre-season?

I hope you are right. I love the guys spirit and he does the shirt proud every time he puts it on. Especially against Chelsea in the CC Final

There is an article in today's Helsingin Sanomat (the largest newspaper in Finland) where TT says that everything is still open when talking about the next season. Some comments from him according to the paper (I try to translate those as well as I can):

"I have one year left in my contract and in a situation like this, it is usual that you start to look elsewhere."

"I didn't have very much chances to play in my own place (under Ramos) in the centre of the midfield. From time to time I was left back, sometimes even as a centre back. It was like a role of a pushover."

"If it looks like, which is very much likely, that my role in Spurs hasn't changed, I have to look elsewhere. As a professional player playing is the most important thing. I want to have more responsibility in this phase of my career...Playing is also vital for the qualifying campaign for the next World Cup."

"Tainio hasn't set any deadline for the decision about his club, but the decision can be made quickly if needed. 'I haven't set any kind of deadline. You have to be patient in these things', Tainio says."

The paper has got TT's interview from the Finnish News Agency (STT).

the best DM we have is KABOUL. if the management sucked his nads and let him off the leash, he would strut around the pitch like some terminator version of Pirlo.

Tainio and Kaboul as the two holding mids? i must be dreaming..
