Defoe was offside, but then Scharner's goal at WHL was handball, so we're even...

his legs were just offside, but his head was about 1 and a half feet offside, which in the law is offside (any part of the body that can play the ball)

For me he was off, but only fractionally.

What worries me most was that until Pavs cameo once again only Defoe looked like he would score for us.

Maybe so 'Shiznit but if the linesman was concentrating on the ball line he would have been watching Defoe's feet and they were very close to level with the ball so he may have thought Defoe was not ahead of the ball.
I know the offside rule eludes some of these commentators so they just see Defoe well ahead of the last defender and shout offside.

All of which should be academic because he was ahead of the ball and so as usual he had put himself offside yet again when it would have been so simple to stay onside had he just kept an eye on the line of the defenders instead of only watching the ball, it's not that hard Pav did it for both his goals today.

Just wanted to say even though there have been some negative posts on the raf I thought Wiley handled the Huddlestone episode perfectly, he could easily have just given him a second yellow, many would.

no it wasn't harrys typical disinterested face, it was a look of....bemusement, perplexment and annoyance all rolled into one delicious "how do i not start him now" package :)

He was trying to hold back a wry smile - it was a look to say, "triffik, he's done me up like a kippa! He's just done me right up! That's just bloody typical innit...bloooooody typical".

Watch motd and read my post whilst looking at his face when pav scores the second...you'll see. :)

While i know that hindsight is a wonderful thing, i can't help thinking we would have had a better points tally to date if SuperPav had come on as a sub in the Villa/Hull/Wolves/Brum games.

Will cost us eventually.

Defoe was clearly offside... Non the less Spurs killed the game off when they should have. 3 points and 4th place. Good day!

offside? offside? who fucking cares with the amount of bad luck we have had

a goal is a goal and im not going to complain, I support THFC not Wigan.

I just want to say well done, we battled, Harry made a brave and good sub. We proved we are not the southern softies of the past. Absolutely fantastic show in some of the worst conditions I've seen for years

Just caught the game on football first.

What a shit game
Hope we dont have to play on a pitch like that again. Killed the game.

Well done Pav!
Enough of the talk in the papers, just show what you can do on the pitch.

Just seen motd2 A bit of poetic justice for JD he got completely flattened by Scharner off the ball before his goal, lucky he got himself up to finish the job.

Sorry bro, but I gotta disagree

Arry always looks like that, it was just the commentary and the timing of the cut that made it seem like he was disappointed that pav scored.

I just watched his post match interview and he was full of praise for pav. Something like "he's a top, top player when he wants to play".

Yes. And I think there's a problem with using that caveat. Why be a **** about it. The lad did brilliantly. The question was about him, not Redknapp. Harry had no need to defend himself. Still, plus ca change.

The only thing that wants Crouch to start is Dawson's right foot!!!! Everytime we start playing the ball around nicely it get's to Dawson who catches a glimpse of something tall and useless out of the corner of his eye and then HOOF!!!!

It is boring and predictable and we need to do something about it.

I had to laugh (the alternative was crying) when the fans (superb again) were giving it the "Oles" at the end and not once but twice after a succession of passes between the midfield, the ball was passed to Dawson who hoofed it up the pitch, conceding possession. The "Ole" thing was just totally alien to him, eh?

Exactly on the money. Funny how apparently one person got to notice the look on Harry's face when BOTH goals were scored, when Sky Sports only showed a clip 30 seconds after he had scored his second.......who knows Harry may have been strumming his banjo and playing a bit of air guitar before the camera went to him.

I still cant believe some of the negative shit, on a day when we played extremely well on the worst pitch in about 25 years, I remember when it was cool to hate Arsenal and West Ham rather than your own players/manager.

Special mention to Pav today, I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, but he showed brilliant composure and his movement was much better than Defoe's. And he looked so happy when he scored, which is very important. I think he even went to pat the badge when he scored the first......but I wont pull him up on the fact he actually got the Puma logo instead!

But well done Pav.

And well done Harry.

I don't see it as 'hating the manager'. It's like the analogy I used before (Deadwood not celebrating his NLD goal). He just doesn't care about us like we do. He isn't a fan.

Personally, I think Harry actively dislikes 'Tottenham fans', such as the group exists. But he is still an excellent manager. It shouldn't - and I think doesn't - matter that he puts himself first. It's frustrating when you want to feel good about the club that the best PR is all about the individual but he earns a good amount of it and he has frequently said this is his 'last chance' at ever getting into CL or having big success, so I am content that he shares our goals, even if his are for more selfish reasons.

well just read this thread after having woken up from a celebratory session - the in-game comments were way too negative on the whole, but it is fair to say it's a game that another ref may have changed completely - so thank you ref

(had JD got the red he so easily could have been given I think that would have been a four match ban and probably devastating both to the day and the season) -Wiley was probably our key player yesterday, aided by lino with a great assist :)

and talking about assists - well done Bale again - and the final part of the hoodoo is now lifted

two months ago bale pav and bentley were probably worth about what, £15m as a reasonable assessment? (no we wouldn't have sold them for that, but their stock was low)

they're now worth what? about £30m and rising - football really is a funny ole game

3 spurs careers rescued in about 8 weeks - amazing

yep pav may still go - but at last he has the chance to put his name to the club

he nearly did it in the lge cup run last season - then came the final -

this time he can finish the job and, who knows, play much better at wembley this time round

I thought we truely deserved the victory. I was pleased with the way we handled the pitch. We could have resorted to the long ball game, but we mixed play up well still. We actually played some good football at times. Created good chances, while Wigan didn't get any clear cut chances really.

I'm pleased for Pav. He clearly has the talent, and i really hope he gets a run in the team to show what he can do. I was really impressed with Modric though. He really helped open Wigan up towards the end.

All in all, a good days work. The workrate was top class, and we controlled the game for the most part. I thought we adapted well when they went to 4-4-2 aswell. Well done Harry

We're back in 4th, yet i'm sure some have still given up hope of 4th spot :duh:

Are there not rules about the quality of the pitch? Wigan should be fined for that surface. Unless they can reasonably prove there was no time to have the pitch re-laid.

They have steps in pace to relay the pitch...just takes a little time to organise.

Positives from the game (aside form winning 3-0 on a quarry against a side up for revenge): a clean sheet, again; well on the way to grinding a result out, before Pav's Divine Intervention; quite clearly shutting the game down, before Pav's Divine Intervention - something that the top teams can do, and has been sadly lacking from our repertoir.
