I am literally agreeing that this approach has been concerning. I think 99% will say it's concerning. But ONLY concerning as it stands. A lot in this thread seem to have decided it's all over. A lot on SC seem to have decided it's all over.

It might end up like this, and then they're well within their rights to be this pissed off etc... but it's not finished yet. So we wait and see what happens. Does it look promising? Not right now, sure. But it can change quickly.

If we manage to get WF/AM by the end then great, I'll be happy. However, is there any real reason why we are leaving it till the last week? (I may understand AM but not WF). Don't tell me they become cheaper, in fact they will probably become more expensive because the selling club may not have enough time to get in any replacements. Great strategy Levy! Also, it's not like we ever pull expensive deals like this off anyway so the strategy needs to change ASAP - we need to start negotiating earlier in the window and hope to get deals done quick. But obviously that won't happen.

If Zaha is dead and that is a big IF because it's only paper talk (read in to that what you will) then I can't believe we haven't got a list of other wing forwards that we are interested in.

I mean NO ONE saw Heung Min-Son coming. No one even knew he could be a possibility. I am happy to stay patient.
Wasn't Son part of the Cabbage cryptic, or am I misremembering that one (or revisionists history?)

ETA - or was he a wrong guess, that turned out to be true?

Don't know mate, all I remember is seeing a quote on twitter, checking a news story and the next day medical and signed.

I feel this transfer window shows a lack of ambition, its my assumption that our best players may feel the same.. That help?

1 - Who's to say we weren't negotiating/making contact with players earlier in the window?
2 - Have we not had multiple ITK saying we have too many non HG players so we need to try and shell and shift them and were trying to do that early but have been unable to?
3 - Have we not often made deals towards the end of the Transfer Window?
4 - Was there not a World Cup this year that changed things/plus this being the first window with the window closing earlier?
5 - Who's to say the strategy hasn't been changing? Just not managed to fall into place with the right signings and we're not gonna sign anyone we don't want.

It's as if people really think Levy and his team literally spend the first half of the summer doing absolutely nothing at all.

With the amount of individual players guessed at with the Cabbage cryptic, chances are very high that he was a wrong guess that turned out to be right.

It's a bloody difficult window considering our circumstances. Non Homegrown players needing to be sold, window for purchases ends on 9th August. For sales to europe ends on 31st August. If we buy players that are non home grown then we could potentially be left with players who are unregistered and can't play.

Purchasing clubs will know this and offer peanuts. Its a crap place to be, so lord knows how it's being managed.

One thing that is undeniable is that we are in that strange area where we are clearly not wanting any old players in just to boost the numbers but on the other hand, the players that will add true quality are in a totally different fee/wage bracket. Moreover, we are living in a new financial climate where clubs, even lower down in the table can say no if they think that we are taking the piss.

Not being funny but Martial was off the menu and then he was back on it.

Grealish wasn't happening and now there's talk that it might happen.

Zaha was on, then off, back on and now dead so forgive me if I don't freak out at this latest development.

I always appreciate ITK but I never get carried away one way or the other.

Now you listen here sunny Jim, none of the meltdowners appreciate your well thought out logic. Take it somewhere else. ;P

Im not sure what I find more frustrating the lack of activity this window or the fans on here who refuse to accept how bad this window is...its like they dont grasp the concept of needing to constantly improve and add to the team. If people are happy and content because we have a new stadium then great...but I want to win things and so far this team hasnt been capable of that so I believe we need new and quality additions.

I agree with buying to improve, but both Martial and Zaha are not our weakest areas (y)

It’s just sad that this really comes as no surprise to any of us. We can’t even sort a player from a team near the foot of the table

I'm curious to know how we go from fees agreed we've offered a better package than the chavs and it's up to Zaha and Zaha wants us to it's dead?

By taking indirect information as verbatim.

In all seriousness, loads of people seem to be in a hissy fit because something that the club haven't publicly said or done hasn't publicly been said or has happened. I think we've barely even been linked to Zaha this summer, and yet everyone's reacting like it's Willian all over again.

If you want to know information in its infancy, that has been passed on by a third party, don't expect that information to be always been up-to-date and predictive - things change very quickly.

That's not an ITK dig either, but they can only pass on what snippets they get, when they get them, and with what little they can divulge - it's just a disaster to treat that info as a quote from the club itself, hence why A&C and the staff say to use a "pinch of salt".

Please enlighten me on why players such as GKN, Janssen haven't been shipped out yet then? Surely out of the hundreds of clubs out there at least one would like them in their squad. I know why, Levy is looking for mega bucks for them when himself wouldn't even pay more than 5m for either of them because of their performances past season or two. He's demanding 2015 prices for incomings and 2018 prices for sales. Therefore the reason why we've found us in this HG mess is because of his reluctance to cut his losses on poor buys.
