I said when we got the news from pablo that it was our deal to lose and there would be pitchforks if we did. Well looks like we have spunked in our hands. Still a week to go and a lot can change.
can't see the club spending going to that level

With respect to anyone suggesting otherwise I don't think we ever bid for him. If anything it would have been an enquiry to see what price we'd be looking at. Until it's clear what's happening with Toby I just cannot envisage us buying anyone for over 20/30m, we were never going to net spend more than that this summer.

Looking at the players in that price range we might aswell not bother, we had itk saying we would break our transfer record, we did 42 mill on Sanchez last year. Let's see.

Man it is going to really suck watching another tremendous young English talent, who the manager seems to want and who seems to want to play for us, go to a rival club and sit on the bench.

Also...what a terrible move for Zaha. Chavs must be promising him that he'll be the main man when they let Hazard and Willian move on. Just like they are probably still promising Michy and Barkley and RLC (and 5-6 others) as we speak that they'll all get playing time this year, too. How blinded by agents/money does one have to be to recognize and turn down an obviously bad career opportunity. Especially given that he's already made a bad choice once before.

It was also said money spent would be clawed back through sales as it always is. The two are linked.

Not sure how you could fault him for the opportunity of playing under Sir Alex, it really doesn't get any better than that as a young player. The rest of it sounds like he had quite a bit of fault in. You all can continue to slag off Chelsea but they aren't selling top players to rivals and consistently win trophies. Their model works, and has worked for 15+ years. Chelsea would be a fantastic place for Zaha under a really damn good manager.

Someone on SC suggested the other day that all the meltdowns on here will get us talked about on other forums. I'm sure all this 'on off on off on' will probably be giving them a bit of a laugh.

You're absolutely right about this. I've just been on the Liverpool and Everton forums and they all think that we should calm down.

Yeah same at Spurs really.

No idea what your point is other than to complain about nearly everything Spurs do or attempt to do.

If Zaha goes to Chelsea, I'll be especially saddened by it. He is Palace, through and through, I believe his house was the prior owner's and even has the Palace logo in the pool. If he gives all that up to be in the mix at Chelsea, putting aside our interest, it feels bad for football.

Their new manager plays with 3 forwards and Willian looks set to leave. He'll start for them. Taking Spurs specs off I actually think it would be a really good move for him as the new manager plays very attacking football.

All the people on here making Chelsea out to be some joke of a club.
They won stuff, good for them, I still fucking detest everything they stand for. If I wanted to give them props I wouldn't do it in the transfer forum.

Another day of uplifting transfer news then.
depends, personally CM is more important. Zaha for 60 mill would likely eat the majority of our transfer budget unless we shift the deadweight in a week which would be tough even with two months to sell them and then levy wanting premium prices to boot

Guys it’s just the Daily Mirror for gods sake. This guy Nursery is notorious for making his own agenda. I’m not saying he’s coming to Spurs but you’re all talking like he’s already signed for Chelsea.

He's laughed at by most fanbases out there as one of the worst journalists in English media
