and Zaha, too? we only play four attackers at a time and there are only so many minutes in a season. Zaha would bring us to 7 attacking players not counting Llorente. Kane, Dele and Eriksen are pretty much nailed on. That leaves 4 players fighting for one spot or hoping to sub in.

I think thats kind of the point, need to be effective when one or more of them is out or rested...

Its between Martial and Zaha it seems.

If the Martial deal falls through and we get Zaha it could also mean Toby might stay. Not necessarily ofcourse but wouldnt mind that at all.

I think Martial is only a goer if it's a straight swap for Toby...

I'd rather Martial but maybe the thinking is if could get Zaha for 45m you can get Grealish too. Personally I hope we can find a way to fund this without selling Toby, if we kept Toby and added those two we've improved the squad a lot without spending too much. Keep Rose too and all that's needed then is to replace Dembele with the best CM we can find.

Prefer martial all day long
On the flip side I'd prefer Zaha to;

Kluivert
Neves
Shaqiri

He's carried that Palace side at times these last two seasons, matured and shown consistency. He offers something very unpredictable, could give us an extra dimension and I believe Poch could really develop him.

If Palace have serious financial issues then he would be much easier to obtain then Martial (I think that will rumble on until August AND we still may not get it done). Would be nice for Poch to have all the new players involved on preseason for July.

I just worry with Zaha and Grealish that we are really starting to stockpile AMs, something has got to give. I can't see Poch using Zaha as striker cover either. He'll want money spent on another 9 type that'll never play.

You could argue we're going 4-3-3 but then why buy Grealish when his best position is no10? Just a bit confused as to what we're trying to do at the moment. We don't seem to be strengthening the obvious weaknesses.

Grealish can be deeper and central. Zaha will play across the three.

City stock pile attacking players and it's no issue for them. Liverpool are doing it now too. We need lots of firepower now.

I'd be happy with either Martial or Zaha, especially when there's still a fair chance we will end up with neither.

If I had to choose it would be Martial, just think he's a bit of a more composed and classy player but Zaha certainly has traits and ability that could help us. I think either one can give us a bit of that offensive edge and sharpness that we sometimes lack.

Said similar in Grealish thread but id imagine if he's coming then Lamela is leaving.
If Zaha came in it means Son can act as Kane backup as well as starter. I hope we've moved away from buying a 9 for sake of it, it'll never work.

He’s been playing centrally in a 4141 second half of the season

Cant get Martial for £60m-£70m. So we go for what would a plan e for any other club in our position. Sign Zaha and Grealish for circa £70m. Good to know our recruitment strategy hasnt changed one bit

Or maybe if we don’t get martial it might because Man U refuse to sell to us?
