I'm afraid money means more. The reason players choose clubs that are in the CL rather than us before was the better exposure they get with CL and that would enhance their value and pay packets. Now if Chelscum should offer him a much bigger paycheck, there is no more need to play in the CL hoping to catch someone else's eyes in the hope of a payrise.
If our rate has been updated to £120 a week I think that's market rate for a top player not talking a super star. I think suggested wages at other clubs has been inflated by the media as was the case with Van Dijk who was reportedly getting £180k which was later revealed to be around £130 and it looks like Toby has found this out also.

120k is what Willian is on at Chelsea, so I'd say its more than fair.

I still don't see why Manchester United would be determined not to sell Martial to us but would be quite happy to sell him to Chelsea? I know word is they want Willian but no more than they wanted Toby.
Either way I just don't believe the only way we can get Zaha is if Chelsea don't want him, I get the strong impression that our wages are rising to where Chelsea's were a couple or few years ago but theirs hasn't risen since and aren't likely to.

Will be interesting to see if he plays.

You'd think if they needed the cash and were negotiating replacements they'd leave him out and not risk injury. On the other hand if they are keeping things under wraps it might set off alarm bells.

This is a Spurs target though so he's definitely gonna play!

FWIW I remember many players we bought that have played during our interest so won't be over-reacting if Zaha does.

True, but Liverpool outspent everyone on agent's fees last year.

Chelsea still spent five times what we did on agent's fees in that period, which puts into perspective how far away we are from being able to compete with our rivals financially.

We used to pay the around most agents fees a few years ago for what it’s worth.

If a fee had been agreed it would be leaking to the media like a sieve. Especially if one had been agreed with 2 big clubs.

Depends how formal the agreed bid is. Looking back I'm sure Levy agreed the fee for Bale early that summer. Didn't actually go through until deadline day IIRC.

Bale did only play a couple of pre-season games before going AWOL though.

Zaha might not seem a huge deal to us, but to Palace this is a big as the Bale deal was to us. Parish has to play it well to reduce the meltdown if it happens.

Yeah I think if a fee had actually been agreed with Palace we would have had more ITK’s coming out to back it up
