Doubt it. We don’t seem close to selling or buying anyone.

Agreed. I appreciate all the insight provided by various different sources, but...

It just seems to be very quiet from all the usual media outlets, and I do think that’s quite telling. I mean there’s literally been nothing and I find it hard to conclude anything other than all our deals are going to the wire, if at all.

Surely this isn’t what they had in mind, which tells you that by definition they’re behind where they wanted in some form or other.

Pretty nervous frankly

Willian plays on the right so he wouldnt be competing with him. He would with Pedro but he has become a utility player of sorts. Also Willian is 29 and Pedro is 30, beyond those two (excluding Hazard) the only other wing option they have is Lucas Piazon (who will no doubt go out on loan again). They are in dier need for more wing options especially as Sarri plays a very intensive 433. We have far more attacking midfield/ wing forward options then Chelsea and i don't see Zaha going straight into our starting 11 where as i can see that happening at Chelsea. Even if Hazard stays, which i very much doubt, they are still in desperate need. I just dont see how our need is the same as theirs no matter how much we might like to sign him.

I think problem going to Chelsea as it’s a new manager unproven in the premier league and a team with an unsettled side with possible departures of their best players. The manager will not get much time and potential for negative pressure is greater.

Doubt it. We don’t seem close to selling or buying anyone. Ally Gold’s article the other day, that sounded like he’d been briefed by the club, is where we are if you ask me.

Yep, and it's felt really strange in that we haven't felt close to signing anyone or getting rid of anyone all window. I for instance thought Llorente would be long gone by now, along with N'Koudou and Janssen. I just don't know what to make of it, the last few windows you could argue have been disappointing in their own ways but they felt like we ended up just failing. This window so far feels like we're not even looking. I know that's not the case but that's just how it's felt.

What's going on then, long time reader, first time poster.... This window is dead.
On the plus side we haven't lost any big names and Lucas looked really handy the other night.
I was quite impressed with him last season too in the few minutes he had.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Tell you what though, if Zaha does want to leave - total professional for not only playing but obviously playing his part today. A lot of players sulk when they want their move.

I agree. I was calm up until the last few days but the silence is deafening. It’s because nobody wants our deadwood and we don’t want to pay nowadays what it takes to get players like Zaha.

We might not want to pay what it takes to get Zaha, but all the ITK is saying we are prepared to. And that almost more importantly tells Poch we are willing to back him to the hilt.

Doesn't feel like this one is happening - not even a sniff of a link to us getting it done in the media.

There was a piece in the standard which said we were prepared to back Poch and get zaha yesterday but other than that I agree

I don't necessarily disagree but JJ did always say the media were far behind with stuff - so just because it's not in the media doesn't mean things aren't moving.

Has @Hercules retracted his "fee agreed and our offer to Zaha is better than Chelsea's" information, or have we just reached the stage of the window where we believe anything negative and ignore/dismiss anything positive?

As during squeaky bum time at the end of last season, there seem to be more fannies on here than there are on Pornhub.

Yet last summer they broke every transfer before any itk did. Sanchez, Aurier, gazziniga and llorente. Papers got all those first.

I’m not knocking itk, what I’m saying is, don’t be so quick to dismiss the papers.

Let’s see if anything comes up on this tomorrow. Sunday sometimes drags up a big transfer story.

It's not even that stage of the window, people are like it all window. They moan because we haven't signed anyone. Then we get positive news about a player and they dismiss it. I do wonder why people even bother posting in this section of the forum. Surely this type of news is what it's all about. I love the excitement of whether we might sign a player.
