I swear some people just want us to spend a lot of money.
Just one bollock would be nice.Just any money at all would be nice.
I swear some people would be happy if they woke up with Levy’s bollocks on their forehead.
I don't think his struggles as a 20-year old six years ago should be relevant anymore.
Would people be for or against it for a fee of between £50m-£60m in today’s market?
Anything more than £60m does seem excessive.
He was never at United under Fergie. Fergie signed him and was sensibly loaned out to Palace for the rest of the season. The next season Moyes was manager and he's a muppet so not really a big deal that Zaha didn't play much. Why not? He struggled at a big club when given his chance yet seems to do well being a big fish in a small pond. It's a completely different ball game playing for a team that challenges, you can't go having ten chances a game and missing, people notice, the media notice and it comes with a different pressure. Yes it was a long time ago but Fergie didn't waste a lot of time on him and to not have a little bit of caution or to take that into consideration when looking to hammer your transfer record would be foolish.
Got to take all of those things into consideration if trying to strive to sign an elite player, which his price tag some have quoted of £70m would suggest he should be.
Personally, £70m spent on someone that won't be ahead of Son & Dele is far too overpriced. I wouldn't go higher than £50m for someone who never took his chance at a big club the first time around. It just doesn't make financial sense to me to do so
Yeah I do actually because I want us to win stuff before some of our top players and manager move to bigger clubs.I swear some people just want us to spend a lot of money.

And you think spending £70m on Zaha will win us stuff?
Not by himself but we're not going to sign anyone better or someone who can make a more immediate impact in that forward position so why not. Poch has wanted him for 2 years, even when everyone thought he was average at best (including me), and he could've gone to Real Madrid if he wanted. I don't care how much he is, we've not had a manager in decades who's deserved the backing Poch does. And you think spending £70m on Zaha will win us stuff?

Out of those players, only Zaha has played as a striker in some capacity (although I recognise in a very different system), so his versatility is also an advantage.Seems with Martial out, our forward list is down to Zaha, Pulisic, Malcolm, and maybe Bailey. All are going to cost about the same amount at 50-60m (Pulisic potentially a bit more). I would say in that group Zaha is the lowest risk, and Pulisic the highest potential.
What is vexing, however, is that the player we/Poch wanted as a solution 3 seasons ago is still seen as that now. The fact that we have had this 'deficiency' for 3 years is disturbing from an organizational perspective. The fact that the same coach wants the same player for this role points toward a rigidity in one or all of thinking, tactics, strategy, etc. How we have not identified and recruited another player to fullfil this remit in 3 years? How have other teams recruited other players for significantly less money/trouble that have performed as well or better than Zaha and we are stuck recruiting players from 3 years ago? A player that doesn't address the very real problem area in our team. The hunt for Martial is similar. This rant is contingent on the ITK/interest being accurate.This. Poch has wanted to sign Zaha for ages. After his achievements over the last couple of years our manager has earned the right to be backed. If we can afford the fee and wages, then we should sign Zaha.
