We’re being outspent by relegation and championship teams.
The quality of their squads is well below ours though.

They can sign a player for 20-30mill who makes their starting 11, while that same player probably wouldn't even make our bench.

Mostly we tend to leave our business late, not always, but mostly as its the most optimum time to extract value. Its been our MO for years so it really shouldn't come as too much of a shock. Couple that with the financial commitment towards the new stadium and its no surprise that we've seen little action on the incoming front.

I'm frustrated but realistic in equal measure. Levy runs things the way he sees fit, and its hard to criticise when you consider how far we've come in the general scheme of things.

I also understand the frustration, when it feels like we should be capitalising when riding high on the crest of a very nice wave - that's the frustration for me.

But these are all massive financial decisions, and only Levy and those around him understand the true implications of such deals, and in the context of planning around the new stadium and all associated cost.

The one thing that concerns me is what Pochettino has been assured. If there's been any goal post moving I wouldn't blame him for being really pissed off.

However if relations are all good, and he's happy, regardless of transfer activity or in spite of lack of, I'm happy regardless.

Pochettino being content is the single most important factor in my mind. If he's not, and goal posts have been moved it would be suicide on Levy's part given how far we've come under Poch. Really can't see Levy doing that though.

If we finish this window as we are Poch won't be happy. It would be foolish to think otherwise.

Fuck me this is going to be one long week, can't wait for this window to shut, I'm resigned to us signing no one.

FWIW odds are suggesting he's more likely to stay. 1/6 on to stay, and we (7/2) are now shorter than Chelsea at 8-1.

I know odds on transfers can be weird but it's weird how much Chelsea have drifted. Suggests some info is involved on top of money movements (someone recently gave some info from inside a betting company to suggest as much).

That is strange. Maybe someone with more of an idea of betting market than me could have an idea as to why that would happen other than people hedging their bets etc. Palace are sponsored by a betting company by the looks of things

Too much movement around Palace for something not be going on. Still reckon he can be ours if Levy bites the bullet.

We have lowballed him in the past ... guess it's also been the case this time around.

Really disappointed about that, as I think he would have been a great addition to our squad

I'm not suggesting that Zaha is coming here but it does seem odd that Palace have suddenly sprung into life and are lining up multiple incomings now, having done almost nothing (a GK on a free) for so long. We know that their financial situation is poor so surely the only way they can be signing players is if they have someone going out and the obvious player is Zaha due to the value he has.

Gards is adamant that the deal is dead. He basically said "Move on and get over it" which is pretty brutal.
Herc has said it's dead.
Breezer hasn't said anything and other ITK's like Trix etc don't appear to have been privvy to info on him.

All in all I'm absolutely baffed by this window so far. No idea what I should be expecting. Most will say expect nothing but I just cannot believe that we would sign no players at all this summer, no matter how tough/crazy this market might be.

I think we have to accept this one is dead. I really want Martial, but think we will struggle there too.

Chavs really damn irritating with the hi-jacking, first Arnesen, then Willian then Barkley and now Zaha

Can't they get their own scouts????

How have we gone from in May all the ITKs taking about building up and spends of 150 million and Poch being backed like never before...to this absolute shambles of a window.

One would think all the guff comes out to coincide with ST renewal time.

Regardless of who if anyone at alm we sign...we're not spending anything close to 100 million let one 150 million in the next 7 days. Building up to insanity more like.

This is the exact type of thinking I try to avoid until it’s hard not to

I have the same feeling, but a part of me also thinks that levy would not do this to poch knowing how close we are to something special.
I think we need to wait until the window is over and then judge but in the current state of play it does not look good!

the way deals are done though is that we talk via agents as well as clubs, so our offer to Zaha might have been more lucrative but our offer to Palace might have been well below the mark, i think we tried to convince him to come and see if he'd go to the club saying 'spurs only please' i imagine the clubs spoke and levy baulked at the price they want.
