If this happens, we should demand a ’proof of life’ video from Daniel Levy. I’m beginning to worry he’s been locked away somewhere.

The thing is, no player should come in expecting to play. It's what happens at all top clubs. If he backs himself, works hard and performs, then he will start. So no player should be told or think they're coming in to warm the bench. Our front three are pretty formidable. But as we've seen with Son in the first few games, if you don't perform, then someone is now there to take your place.

This is absolutely true. It speaks volumes of Richy's mentality that he signed for us despite our front three being so good. He backs himself to earn a starting spot.

While I agree, I can also understand his situation too. He got his fingers burned at United as a youngster, I can understand him being happy to be the main man at palace.

I agree with you, but I think age does come into it as well. Richy has the added incentive of knowing he stands to take over from Sonny, as the latter heads into his 30s. Zaha doesn’t have that luxury.

Perhaps that's an aspect of Richy's transfer decision. But then again, I think players are able to extend their careers significantly these days (look at Perisic for example). Each player is different and perhaps Zaha's earlier transfer to ManU and return to Palace affects his thinking. If I was his agent, I would tell him that this is a good option to go to a team that is playing in multiple elite competitions, looking to win, with a winning coach and a proper set-up. He can stay as the big fish in a small pond or try the big club thing again with a bit more life and playing experience and perhaps a better set-up around him.

Zaha is not coming to any club to warm the bench!

Well then in that case, i doubt he's coming to Tatnem.

I would guess that any forward worthy of the name would by now understand that coming to Spurs that he joins a rotational squad system.

All of our new signings understood that.

I wander if Son’s poor start to the season could have given Conte something to think about. Zaha would scare the shit out of defenders just as an in form Son does. It could also be a smokescreen, a kick up the arse for Son as at the moment he really doesn’t have anyone competing with him for that left spot. I know Richarlison should provide that competition but I feel he’s more of a relief for Kane. When Kane is being marked out of games, he comes on and Kane drops deep with the opposition is left unsure as to who to mark.

To be fair, Conte literally laughed off a question about Son not starting very quickly this year and just said how important he is to him and the club, so I took from that that he's still counting on him as a main man.

Zaha would get plenty of matches here. Big ones, too. I also would not overlook the potential intrigue of joining a club that could actually win something at this stage in his career.

But he still needs proper competition despite being main man

Nothing to do with him not being the main man. I think all players need that push to improve

Given zaha is naturally left footed I wonder if the thinking is he’s more cover on the right hand side but can play across the front three

Which is why he’s always been happy at Palace as the main player. No top prem/CL club will guarantee him playing.
Hasn't there been consistent reports that he wants a move to a bigger club but much like Kane did signing his 6 year deal he put the power into the clubs hand as for a few years he kept signing new long term deals for higher wages?
