Where has the talk of him not wanting to compete for a place come from? Surely the only person who knows if this is the case is Zaha himself?
He has 1 year left on his contract and this is their last chance of getting a half decent fee for him, whilst we (if we decide to pursue) would be getting him for much less than we would have done over the past few seasons.
He would clearly be able to see that we are potentially building something quite special and I'm sure that, along with Conte, our facilities and stadium would be more than enough to entice him.
Conte has said it plenty of times, he wants a squad. If we are indeed pursuing a deal for Zaha, he would be very aware of this, so any developments would tell me he's more than happy to compete.
Just look at our upcoming fixture schedule. We have two fixtures every week apart from the international break all the way up until the World Cup. There will be plenty of opportunities to play.

Only four days left. Awfully quiet regarding incomings especially if they are going to be big deals.
