Never seen him play (like I many on here I dare say). He may be a future star (and I am not against signing him) but right now I prefer to focus on getting players ready to improve Spurs right away or at least from next season on - like Belhanda, who is way better than Hughes is right now. Maher, 2 years older than Hughes, is also more "ready" for Spurs 1st team. And neither would cost that much more than Hughes apparently.

We really shouldn't be focussing on one or another - surely as one of England's, wait, the UK's best clubs we should be able to and should be identifying future talents all the time to bring in cheap then developing them into PL class, whilst also identifying first team targets also?
Buying up talent like Will Hughes is exactly what I want Spurs to do.

I agree about Carroll, I'm no Hudd hater but his time here is up and I don't see how playing Carroll over him would be detrimental to our performances. On Hughes if we signed him may as well loan him back for 18 months, let him carry on developing and getting game time in a situation he is comfortable in, same if we signed Zaha now let him stay palace til the end of the season, better for his development IMHO

Holsten_spur posted this on COYS. I don't think he's ITK, but I think its worth posting

Hotting up between us and Chelsea I was told tonight by someone who works for football in the community for the rams, I don't think it's a secret we have watched the kid on plenty of pccasions, Derby seem to be keen to take a lump of money and have him back on loan next season as they build for a challenge for promotion next season.

Since that leeds game he hasnt really reached the same heights again, he has been injured alot and its too early imo

Problem is with this signing is, we have 2 very good CM's coming through and I would go far as saying everybody next season will be very excited of the prospect of Bentaleb

Seems to have massively gone off the boil... I would say wait another season to see if he improves as he's extremely young at the moment but by then it could be too late. Guess I'll leave that conundrum to Levy.

He does appear to have massive potential. Can't see us spending what would be needed though when we already have so many quality midfielders coming through the ranks.

Would be annoying to see him end up at Chelsea however. You know they'd only be buying him to keep him out of the clutches of others. They'll loan him out for three years before probably selling him off to a team that aren't a threat to them. Fulham were said to be close to a deal earlier in the season, would be good to see him go to a club like that. Far more sensible.

From what I've read in the media 3/4 million might get him, worth the risk imo, he's got a lot of ability and a good attitude.
