Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy is ready to launch a bid and start a Premier League stampede for Derby’s teenage sensation Will Hughes.
But Spurs face a fight with Chelsea and Fulham for the blond bombshell – with Rams chief Nigel Clough braced for offers this week and ready to negotiate the best deal.
Levy is a huge fan of finding the best young players around while they are competitively priced and views Hughes, 17, as a major investment.
Chelsea are also keen to raid Pride Park for Hughes, signing him now and possibly leaving him at Derby. They see him as a first-team starter for them down the line.
Struggling Fulham fancy taking Hughes and blooding him in the Premier League, but the bidding may become too fierce for them.
Derby’s American owners want around £10million for Hughes, a key part of Clough’s push for the top six. He is their biggest asset for years.
However, they may accept less – around £6m plus add-ons – and would be open to a move on that basis if Hughes is loaned back to Derby until May. Former Repton public schoolboy Hughes has been thrust into the limelight and does not even have an agent.
Clough is trying to keep his head focused on playing for Derby and winning promotion, but Premier League interest is intense. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-news-spurs-ready-1504330

Looks a good player. We haven't got the time or the money to be splashing out on 17 yr old's that wont be ready for the first team for years though. That money could be put towards Moutinho.

This guy was apparently scouted by Barca recently so he must have something!
The new John Bostock.

Seriously though if we can get him for a good price brilliant, even let him stay at Derby for 18 months, he's getting games there

Good job Levy disagree's with your policy's then, or we would never have signed Bale.

I think thats a load of bollocks tbh and if so that doesnt mean much as Bostock was as well and I think he actually got a offer(should of taken it otherwise he would regress imo)

If one of the mods can merge the general football thread(here) with this one, then that would be great as there is alot of info on him, looked like a young dembele against Leeds

Also there may be some bad blood between us and Derby for the Hudd transfer as we took advantage of their issues and got him for less £600k iirc

Ah, the 'Bostock defence'...
Beat me to it but in fairness if Bostock read the game better and got along with his teammates/managers he would be a great player as on the pitch in the championship and League 1 he always did well before they returned him lol

I'm not against signing top young players, far from it. It's just that when our first team is so desperately in need of talent and we've got 5/6 good young attacking minded midfielders in our academy, its not wise to be spending £10m on a 17 year old, especially when we're strapped for cash and are trying to fund a new stadium.

What i like about this kid is his attitude at only 17 he seems very level headed, and intelligent, very much like Bale and Wallcott. He's clearly got great ability and i agree 10 million is maybe a bit too much, if we could get him for around 6 million as it stated in the article, i think its worth a punt.

Very similar to Jack Wilshere, controls games yet only 17, will be a top top player. No Bostock

He interest me far more than the likes of Ince and Zaha that's for sure.
We haven't anyone similiar to him coming through our academy at the moment.

It's too late now, Derby will demand a ridiculous fee. That's the reality now with young, British players. Can see him end up at Arse for about £10m. We might be able to help any deal if we loaned them Carroll again though. But then again, is he as good as Carroll at the moment?

Never seen him play (like I many on here I dare say). He may be a future star (and I am not against signing him) but right now I prefer to focus on getting players ready to improve Spurs right away or at least from next season on - like Belhanda, who is way better than Hughes is right now. Maher, 2 years older than Hughes, is also more "ready" for Spurs 1st team. And neither would cost that much more than Hughes apparently.
