Already looks very good and he's only 17, going to be very hard to win the race for his signature.
tough deal, Spurs can hardly offer him 1st team footie,.... it will be interesting to see where he goes and he will go somewhere soon methinks

We can't even find time to play Tom Carroll (20) and Ryan Mason (21) at the moment. Unless Hughes went on loan for several years, he'd never get games with us.

From that I've seen I'm not that impressed tbh. .Will Hughes seems very one footed imo Tom Carroll is far better. From the championship zaha looks worth while.

Young enough to play for our Nextgen team the next two seasons ..

He's starting regularly for a Championship team, a decent one at that, he's never going to leave that to come and play for our youth team for a couple of years.

Hughes is Wilshire-rey. Keeps it ticking over, makes things happen when he is on.

Seems more effortless in his play than the likes of Carroll etc.

The argument about his age keeping him out is a bit of a non-starter. If he is really that special he will force his way in should we sign him. Carroll and Mason don't play that often mainly because they aren't good enough ( yet? Hopefully )

I think he probably would get minutes as the fee would demand it but (as I was criticised for saying earlier) it's disappointing that the likes of Carroll, Mason and to a lesser extent Luongo aren't getting more chances atm. Need to start giving these kids some minutes, otherwise what's the point in Levy's long term youth driven policy? I'm not one for just giving kids a game for the sake of it but these are some top quality young players we're talking about here and they're getting on in years now.

In contrast I was, for instance, never that much in favour of Livermore getting games. He's young(ish) but he doesn't offer much beyond the ordinary. These guys though (Carroll, Mason, Luongo, etc), potentially do. Carroll in particular I would already have ahead of (on his recent form at least) Hudd. I know that many disagree but I feel that quite strongly. Carroll shows for and passes the ball like no other player currently in the team.

Anyway, I went off on a tangent. I'd be in favour of signing Hughes as he looks quality. However, in signing him we'd likely be writing off one or two quality youngsters currently on our books (Mason for sure and possibly Carroll and others). It's something that we would need to be very sure about.

I think most people would agree with you there, I certainly would. The thing I like the most about Carroll is his awareness. Before he's even got the ball he knows what he's going to do with it. Everything's very slick and he plays a lot of first time passes. From what i've seen of Holtby (limited youtube videos) he seems to be quite similar. Bodes well for the future.

He's a beautiful player to watch (no, not in that way) and exactly the sort that could make a 433 for us tick. Possesses a couple of the key attributes that our team is currently light on.

Would ideally like to see Hudd leaving this window with Carroll taking over as a first choice back up. Was hoping to see him start today really but oh well. People seem to be hesitant about him starting games due to his size but he's in his twenties now and his physique isn't going to alter that much. He deals with what he's got pretty well from what I've seen so it's time to give him a shot.

Carroll gets stuck in a hell of a lot more than Huddlestone. I've seen him put in some really good crunching tackles. I don't really see his physique as an issue really - not with the way he plays. He doesn't look to try and run through players, he simply plays it round them. I think he'd be fine alongside one of Sandro or Parker in a midfield duo, but he'd be better in a 3 man midfield.

Yeah, offers a fair bit defensively. Intercepts a lot of (foot)balls. What I want more than anything is a squad full of intelligent players. Carroll exemplifies this quality more than many of our senior midfielders and so I would certainly like to see him given more prominence.

If a prem loan can happen that would be great, but can imagine it's hard to get coaches in this country to take a punt on players of that physique.
