Willian knows he made a mistake by joining Anzhi. I don't think he'll make the same mistake and join the Bindippers. His dream move would be us and AVB.

Alternatively you could argue he showed his true colours by signing for anyone that was willing to pay him.
And why would we be his dream destination?

And does anyone else think 35m is a ridiculous amount of money?

How has he done for Anzhi?

he didn't really have a say with the Anzhi transfer, because at that point his position with Shaktar was pretty much untenable, yet Anzhi were the only ones to pay what they were looking for.

I'd take Will.I.An over Lamela for sure.

Why was it untenable?
They offered him a contact and if they decided they wanted to sell him then he had a right to say where he wanted to go and to dictate his value.
I can understand a club wanting top dollar for a want away player.

If they keep Suarez and get Willian, they'll be scary looking in attack.

This transfer window remains in the balance for me - what happens with Bale being at the heart of it.

he wanted to leave to come to England, and they were prepared to sell him but only to a club that paid his full release clause. he, whether rightly or wrongly, feels he was made broken promises by the club and couldn't stay there any longer. as Anzhi were the only ones Shakhtar accepted a bid from, his choice was limited to either going there or staying in Donetsk. it's kinda similar to when Robinho burned his bridges at Real, and City were the only ones that could afford him

Agreed, I also think that our focus at the moment is very much Lamela. A lot of ITK pointing to this and one feels that the Lamela deal may have been worked on for a while where as Willian only seems to have become available recently.

Willian want out of anzhi, and if liverpool is the only club that gets their offer accepted then thats where he will go.

They do seem to have funds for a premier signing, and after deals for costa and that armenian lad fell through i can see them going all out for willian. They are very lucky that such a player is available and pretty much willing to go anywhere.

Now having said that, if we bid and anzhi accept im sure he would come here. Reports saying he and avb talks every now and then, avb speak his language, the fact we have two brazilian starters here in sandro and paulinho, located in london and is currently the better team would make us a lot more attractive imo.

Dippers have Lucas and Coutinho so could help him settle there also.

Last place want Willian to go to is Liverpool.

Would definitely do a job for us, and fit in well, but still believe the 35m asking price is too much - we wouldn't go near that last time so why this?

A quartet of Soldado, Lamela, Chadli and Willian would be nice - but looking at an outlay of circa 65m for these 2 additions and still need a CB and LB plus potentially another centre forward depending upon Ade. Don't think we have enough money for all that.

A quintet with Bale for a season would be even better of course.

But if it's Willian or Lamela then I believe we would be better going for Lamela

If we both match Anzhi's valuation I'm almost certain he would come here. Play with the engine room of the Brazillian national team to put yourself in the spotlight for the WC squad, work under a manager you have good relations with and who speaks your language (over a David Brent tribute act). Live in London over Liverpool which also has the Chelsea Brazillian boys. Finally, play in a much stronger team.

Of course, Liverpool will be desperate for this and will pay way over odds - it's all dependent on us matching them.

Willian has deadline day written all over it what with Anzhi's need to sell. Would be surprised to hear anything more for at least another week.

I'd take Lamela every day of the week

Not to mention Anzhi has given permission to allow teams to talk to agents. Levy can hash out the deal on the player's side and then wait until the last minute to lowball Anzhi.

Levy's gonna Levy.

You make a very good point but our midfield is much more dynamic and energetic than theirs. Lucas is their only midfielder I rate, apart from a declining Gerrard they really haven't got anyone else who comes close to top 4 ability.

Liverpool would be best served actually addressing their defense. An injury to Agger and they are in shambles.
