That would be nice. I wonder where it leaves Zokora. I don't want to see Modric or Lennon pushed out of the team, because it is only when they are both there (and hence each have more space) that we have any attacking impetus. Zokora may be much improved, and I think he is playing well, but this guy has the same energy, more of a tackle, and is better on the ball.

Oh, and:

Wiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllsssssssssssssooooooooooonnnnnnn

What are we gonna do now Wiiiiiiiiillllllssssssssooooooooonnnn
I don't doubt that, if he signs, Palacios will take Zokora's place in the side. Our beloved Zokopops would still get a decent number of games, though. He can fill in very well at RB, which will be handy for reshuffling the defence in King's absence, and particularly in European games.

SSn Report (quoting the Sun) that he will sign tomorrow for £14M.

Would like to see it plus a striker (quickly) and a Centre Back as I'm guessing King is out for a few weeks.

Spurs demands bemuse Bruce

Tottenham look set to miss out on Wilson Palacios if they do not alter their planned payment structure.
Spurs have asked for four years in which to stagger the £14million price tag placed on the midfielder by Wigan.
However, the Latics are keen to get the fee up front, with the money helping to fund their own endeavours during the January transfer window.
Steve Bruce admits the Honduran international's future remains unclear at present, and has taken a swipe at the policies adopted by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
"Anyone who has watched Wilson for the last six months will now what they are getting," said the Wigan boss in the Daily Star.
City interest

"The size of the fee, I believe, has been agreed.
"But in terms of the payment, Mr Levy wants it over something like 55 years!"
Spurs must also fend off interest from Manchester City if they are to land Palacios, with Blues manager Mark Hughes confirming his interest in the talented 24-year-old after seeing his side beat Wigan 1-0 on Saturday.
He does, however, remain unsure as to City's chances of scuppering Spurs' agreement.
"I'm not sure how it's progressed," he said.

Come on sort it out.

And how about a left winger while we are at it.
"Wigan Athletic are expected to use a sizable chunk of the money generated from the anticipated sale of Wilson Palacios to Tottenham Hotspur to recruit the Republic of Ireland international Stephen Hunt from Reading. The 27-year-old has a £5m release cause in his contract and, although he is not a like-for-like replacement for Palacios, it is understood that Steve Bruce is keen on signing the left-winger.
Hunt has made no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League following Reading's relegation to the Championship last season and, although Steve Coppell would be reluctant to allow the former Brentford player to leave mid-season, the clause in the three-and-a-half-year contract, signed last February, means any decision would rest with the player should Wigan offer that sum.
Tottenham, frustrated in their attempts to prise Stewart Downing from Middlesbrough, are believed to have expressed tentative interest in Hunt, who was on Sunderland's radar while Roy Keane was in charge, but Wigan are favourites to sign the Irishman. Bruce has deployed Ryan Taylor, who has been plagued by injury during his time at Wigan, on the left flank in recent weeks but he believes Hunt would be a valuable addition in that area."

It's a fucking joke. He would have been happy to spunk that on Downing, but when it's a quality player who's going to improve our side, he backs off.

To be fair he probably would have done the same with Downing if had we agreed a fee.

We are not in a postion to be messing around at the moment, we need atleast 3 players to come in right now and all need to be players capable of having a postive influence in the here and now (not requiring massive adjustment periods or being signings for the future)

And if we'd done that with all our transfers in the past, we probably wouldn't have the money to spend now.

The payment plan is irrelevant, either we pay in one lump and we get him or we pay instalments and we get him.
The only fly in the ointment is City and if they outbid us they'll get him whatever we do.
If however City are not interested then it's a negotiating ploy by Wigan and Levy is right not to give in to them.

They seem to think Palacios will reject Spurs and stay at Wigan. They reckon he'll hold out until the summer to see if Man Utd go in for him.

Hopefully not.

Bloggy bollocks. Wouldn't set too much store by that. The fact that Captain Clueless who wrote it thinks we're in the bottom three suggests the highest standards of journalistic endeavour may not be in evidence at The Wiganer.

Im sure Wigan dont expect us to pay the whole fee up front but maybe if we really want him will have to compromise and pay him over 2 & half, 3 years. But this looks like turning it to the Alan Hutton of this transfer window. If it happens it Happens! And if it doesnt it doesnt we move on!

topyid on COYS suggested before City and United had even been linked that Palacios was 100% keen on joining Spurs. I hope the apparent interest from both Manchester clubs hasnt changed his mind.

That's the key. And he doesn't have to move house. And they'll pay him higher wages. And he'll end up with higher quality players around him. And I'm sick of proving he's not coming.
