I don’t think it’s outside the realms of possibility that Phillips could go to villa and luiz comes to us.
as you say, we’ve held an interest for a while and he also counts as hg I believe (from his time at city).
However if he did sign a new contract last summer this does make it less likely
It would be amusing to sign one of Villa’s best players after all the nonsense their fans were spouting about being on or above our level now after one good season.

If we bought 1 more hybrid 6/8 like Bissouma and Bentancur it could work with the extra minutes we will have available next season with European football? Off the top of my head I can think of players like Bennacer, Anguisa and Lobotka who would fit that mould of a very press resistant midfielder who can play as a 6 or 8. All play in Italy, maybe the Don Fabio could work some magic again? I’d love Bennacer personally.

I read yesterday that Youssouf Fofana is out of contract in 24. Don't know too much about him but he looks like he'd have the skillset to fit that role and probably at a decent price.

I agree that he’ll play more for us then City but staying at City means he’ll win more trophies this season and Southgate doesn’t appear to mind him not playing so can’t see how it will negatively affect his chances of getting in the England squad. I think he stays until the summer and then leaves.

I hope I’m wrong and he comes to Spurs this January though.
He's won the EPL, PL, CL and FA Cup so he's not short on trophies, and IMO another one or two this season for City would feel pretty hollow given he's not going to have done much for them.

I think having Madders in the team might be a key factor - he's clearly very well respected in the England set-up and will no doubt be raving about Spurs right now. They also have the same parent agency - CAA (Maddison and half of Spurs including Ange are CAA Base and Phillips is CAA Stellar), so this is one of those deals that we have a route to getting done.

IMO he moves in Jan, the question will be which club he goes to, like you I hope it's us. (y)

Call me mad, but with United needing to move him out the club, what’s people’s opinion on Sancho loan in January with option?

He was such a talent and just not worked for him. If he leaves his ego at the door, it might be a good environment for him under Ange and gives us a different type of winger to look at.

For me personally, it's a no. United are a clusterfuck, but it sets alarm bells for me when you see people calling out a player's attitude or their effort in training. When you identify a player it's important to not just judge them for their ability but also their attitude and how they will fit in the dressing room. We can't afford to bring in any more Ndombele highlight reel players.

Yeah that’s a fair point, but that’s why it has to be a loan. Ange would figure him out pretty quickly and I just think that our current group of players might be the difference. Look at how Son takes people under his wing, there doesn’t seem to be ego’s around - unless we can get a clear number 1 choice we have complete confidence in in January I just think it might be worth a go

No way we go for a player on that kind of wages. Who has so many issues with their mentality why would we? We have so much squad harmony right now why risk rocking the boat.

I also don’t see what the upside is to a loan. So if he comes here and smashes it United will demand massive money for him and I highly doubt we pay kanes money to sancho. It’s just huge wages.

I’d not be opposed to a loan, but it’d have to be a deal heavily weighted in our favour. Can’t see it personally.

I wouldn't go near Sancho. He's done next to nothing in the EPL and the last thing we need is a player who needs fixing before he can contribute, especially on a loan.

Agree, I think it would be an incredibly risky move. I do think there is a player there but I’ve read a lot of things that remind me of Dele. Not the issues with authority more his dedication to training and his supposed obsession with video games. I think there are much better options out there as have already been mentioned like Williams, Neto, Kubo etc.

Loan with an option, which is mostly what we do (Lenglet aside).

I’m on the fence personally, but could be a shrewd move if it’s more about the club than the player.

It's a no to Sancho for me. We've currently got so many hungry players and the characters in there are the right blend. We need to very careful with the personalities we add to it. It's almost as important as the quality of the player for me.

Not his ego it’s his work rate and drifting in and out of games

Forget Mitoma we should be all over Kubo
€60 million release clause, and a 50% capital gains clause to Real Madrid. Wonder if they still owe us anything? Either way - within our reaches if we want him. Do see that Madrid, Liverpool and Man Utd want him too. Could we offer him something better than them at the moment? Think a RW starting berth is available with them, though arguably not so much with us.

Watched first half of Mainz vs Bayern now.
Mainz right winger Brajan Gruda , 19 yr old German youth player - looks a class player every time he is on the ball
One to keep an eye on.
