We are at the start of our rebuild process, we’ve exceeded all expectations, but I don’t think we are suddenly going to see a splurge, or early incomings just because we are close to top of the league/top 4/whatever.
I don't expect us to splurge but I do expect us to move early, not because of where we are currently but because Ange wants us to.

Has that ever caused the club to move early before? A manager wanting it?

Be ready to be disappointed.

That's true but after the last few years, I'm still hopeful that this time will be different.
We've got a whole new recruitment team in place now, so hopefully Levy will back the fuck off and leave them to it.
Otherwise, there's really no point to Munn and his team being here if they've got no real authority.
It's taken a while but hopefully Levy has finally learnt his lesson of the past god knows how many years!

If he hasn't, by Jove I'm going to really be fuming behind the screen of my phone. 😁

If Ange isn’t going to play Lo Celso then another AM has to be a top priority alongside 2 defenders.

Essentially we need two CB’s, one can be younger, an AM and a WF especially if Richy goes. The WF can potentially wait until summer if Gil takes his opportunity between now and Jan.

Plus at least one keeper since Lloris and Forster's contracts end 2024 and maybe a LB with Perisic going, Sess constantly injured with his and Davies' contract ending 2025, Reg probably gone (also having a 2025 contract)

Sess contract ends next year unless we take up the option. Doubt very much we will do that, how much could we realistically recoup.

Was saying this earlier.

If Lo Celso can't earn a start today after being fit for weeks then he should be on the first plane out of here in January with a somebody being brought in to compete with Maddison as a matter of urgency.

These windows have to be ramped up..6/10 windows ain't good enough and it's coming round to bite us on the arse again.

First tweet sound like opinion but posting more for the reply. Seems Newcastle are interested in Jota.

I still think we need better than Jota BUT, if it is indeed on a free, with the stronger need to strengthen other areas, Perisic out, question marks over Gil still and maybe an unrealistic nature of bringing in a real top talent there, it may not be the worst signing all things considered.

The thing that makes me a bit unsure though is that even with Perisic and lets say Gil being moved on in the summer, that would still leave us with 4 wide men in Solomon, Jota, Kulusevski and Johnson, with none of them really being that higher calibre of player I think we now need to add there.

Eze, 2 x CB, A top class winger and a striker over the next two windows is essential.

A full back and central midfield alternative is a bonus.

Now that Eze has signed a new contract I think there’s very little chance we move for him as even if there’s a release clause it will probably be too large for us. We do need another creative AM option tho 100%.

If we hadn’t of got Solomon I’d be more then happy with Jota but as it is i don’t think the 4 you mention are of a calibre that would take us to the top. We need a top class winger and whilst Jota looks a very solid player I think we should be aiming higher. That being said I wouldn’t be surprised if the early reports of us having a small budget are true. Still if that’s true then I’d rather spend £20 mil on Nusa say who I think has the potential to go to the top even if he’s currently too raw to have much impact then.

Yeah Solomon is the one I was thinking had taken up the remaining slot of a player of the level we're talking about. I also wouldn't be surprised if those budget report rumours were true either. Let's be honest, had the same source said we had a lot of money to spend we probably wouldn't be questioning it near as much. I haven't seen Nusa enough to know what sort of addition he'd be, but I'm interested to see the level of player we'll be looking at to add to certain areas.

I think that will be the interesting thing, when we have a team capable of playing the way Ange wants for the most part, like our starting 11 when everyone is fit, will we be willing to go that next level up with regard to player acquisition? I'm not 100% convinced we will be, with Levy at the helm and with how much Ange is getting out of the type of players we already have. I really hope so though because I think we'll need to if we really want to be as successful as we can. Everything else seems to be in place really.

anyone from US watches MLS? Thiago Almada from Atlanta United got 11 goals and 16 assists in 22/23 season as an attacking midfielder
Almada is really good. Every time I watch him he reminds me so much of James Maddison. He pulls all the strings for Atlanta, dropping deep but also buzzing around the box. He can press and get stuck in as well. Great freekicks and set piece delivery. MLS to the Prem is obviously a massive step up, but he has already won the World Cup with Argentina as an MLS player! I doubt we’d be the ones to pay up for him though. They’ll want more than they sold Almiron for.

id guess 3-5mil from a top end championship club pushing for prem, probably burnley after they go down trying to push to go back up

I know some were hoping we’d make a move for him. Tbh I think this was pretty much done a while ago.

Bayern have robbed Adelaide Utd on the fee.
Not at all happy.
Probably the biggest Aussie talent in a generation. Still very raw but the ceiling is enormous.
I expect they will loan him out initially.
I would have loved to see him at Spurs with Ange though.
