Gallagher is incredible both ways off the ball. Would make a lot of sense if we're moving Pierre on.

Eh well Maddison came from a relegated Leicester

if a player is performing for any club they should be looked at
Yeah, I know, I was just using the opportunity for a cheap dig at Chelsea which let's be fair, is not a chance to pass up. 😁

Can Gallagher play effectively as a DM? We have a lot of attacking players and sometimes we need someone to come on and stabilise things to see games out. Thats what PEH is supposed to do but just cant seem to apply.

I'd say that's where Bentancur & Biss comes in. Gallagher would battle it out with Sarr imo

I wouldn't be against Gallagher. As others have mentioned, the benefits are obvious. He's HG, young, presses like a mad man, and would be a perfect squad addition in place of Hojbjerg.

I also think he can play that Sarr role perfectly too, has the energy and work rate to pull it off. Wouldn't write this one off tbh.

He would be great for us, easily their best player this season and for the life of me I can’t understand why they would want to get rid but if the hand is out and we can make our move we should snap it off. He’d fit in perfectly, and would probably replace PEH in the squad so a clear upgrade.

Presumably to do with him being HG and therefore selling for pure profit when it comes to FFP, so they can then go out and spunk another £50-100m on an average player...

Not in a classic sense but I think he certainly could in an Ange system. A bit like Bentancur, he’s more a CM but in Ange’s system he works in that DM role. Ether way it’s two positions he’d be able to play.

Captained them at the weekend i thought?
Poch doesn’t want him to go but the club might need him to go if they hope to bring in more players. That’s their issue. Plus who knows how long Poch lasts anyway.

I think there is a very good chance we get him IF we can shift PEH. I think we would have got him in summer even. The biggest issue I think is finding a team who will actually pay money for PEH. That is the major sticking point imo. Juve are very broke and Atleti are also pretty skint and both seem to be the primary clubs interested. Maybe we can work out some player swap deal with Juve but it will be complicated, they are always hard things to achieve.

I can only see Gallagher being worth it if GLC is off. Right now our CM options when all are fit are Maddison, Kulusevski, Sarr, Bentancur, GLC and Bissouma. We don't need to add anyone else unless one leaves.

Probably in a huge minority here but I'd prefer Kalvin Phillips to Gallagher. He was outstanding in Bielsa's high energy Leeds team and I can't see him costing anywhere near as much as Gallagher. And before anyone says he can't get in the City team, there's no shame in not being able to displace Rodri. I also really, really don't want us helping Chelsea out of the hole they've dug themselves into.

I completely agree. I think his skillset is way more suited to what we need in our squad. He provides a better defensive option whilst still being able to pick a pass.

Yeah. Would be great business to reduce our numbers yet improve our depth by replacing Hojbjerg and Skipp with Gallacher. Sarr could easily fill in as a 3rd DM option as well imo.

Advocated Gallagher in the summer and can still see the virtue in what he brings to the table whilst allowing us to dispense with not only Hojbjerg but Skipp as well.
