Lucas Moura hasn't improved our attacking options? Foyth our defensive options? Fabian Ruiz would have done wonders for our midfield this year, release clause had him move to Napoli for a very reasonable fee. Torreira the same for Arsenal.

The club has successfully brain washed a lot of you that these deals are just impossible to make.
The club has brainwashed me into wanting them to spend money? Not the normal accusation thrown at Levy.

We can continue to scour the markets looking for value, we will come across it from time to time.

In the upcoming season I believe we are likely to need two new first teamers. I think to get the quality we need will require spending.

Not sure why the board would want to brainwash me into wanting that.

They're not impossible, but the hit rate is lower. Your 75M purchase is more likely to be an impact player than your 20M purchase. So the question is:

Do you risk the 75M on a 80% chance (made that % up) he will be an impact player? Or do you buy 5 players for 15M each (Nkoudou, Njie, Jannsen types) on the 10% change (again, made up) that one of them will impact as much as the the 75M guy?

I'd argue that, with a club like Spurs where we apparently can't afford to pay guys to not play, you'd want to spend 75M and pay that guy 150K/wk, as he's more likely to be able to be sold in 2 yrs if he doesn't pan out. Whereas your 15M purchases may have so little value that no one wants them and you're stuck paying each of them 30-40K/wk when they suck.
I think it just comes down to good evaluation of the players and the roles they play in the squad. I think there are gambles at both numbers. Just look at United and City in the past.

2 summers ago Wanyama was our best signing but also our cheapest of the window. The summer before we picked good value in Sanchez, Lucas, Foyth & a lot of us thought that of Serge at the time.

I think I just misread what you were saying. I've just seen so many excuses that there aren't any deals to be made from all the Levy defenders that my views are a little skewed.

Glad to know what side you're on now! I'd love for us to go and spunk money on De Jong/Ndombele and some badass fullbacks as well for the record.

Btw, rumors that Rabiot has committed to Barcelona. Meaning I can't imagine they would be spending on De Jong.

Arnautovic was £20m a player right infront of peoples noses for 3 years but most couldn’t see his potential or how he may flourish with slightly better players. People get very snobby buying from stoke instead of Ajax.

I'd gladly buy a forward from Bournemouth, RB from Crystal Palace, GK from Burnley, and a LB from Leicester.

Depends if you want to try and win something or just invest in punts as a money making (or not) exercise.

Same argument could be made about Shaqiri. A punt we should have taken.

I said we should buy him but many told me he is lazy with an attitude problem.

Think he would have been a good Chadli replacement.

Hopefully SC’s affiliate deal with Amazon results in the site receiving
a decent wedge from all the tampons i’ve just had to order for this thread... :shifty:

Anybody know anything about Joachim Anderson the Danish CB from Sampdoria? Seen quite a few articles linking us to him.

This is the same player who now wants to leave West Ham for a Champions League team a year and a half after signing him, these players have no loyalty or team ethic and we should be steering well clear of them.
