Who was the highly rated striker kid we sold this summer? As far as I remember he left because he felt his path to the first team was blocked - surely he could've been promoted ahead of Janssen if we have absolutely no intention of ever using the Dutchman?
Not sure Poch even knows Janssen is still employed by the club. That might actually make him walk.

Cause his spot is the most clear position we need to upgrade. From everything we heard we were entertaining offers from him this summer and he'll be off for a free next summer.

I'm not saying he's bad like the rest of those guys, just that its time to move on from him.

you could say that about the other CM as well, or both first choice full backs- Davies has been particularly shocking. So I can't agree with that claim either. Did he make a difference last night do you think, when he came on?

I couldn't watch the game due to work so idk. I don't doubt that he's a good player or that me makes a difference. Just that we should have a better starting CM at this point in Dembeles career. He still hasn't had an assist in over 2 years in the league, I realize stats don't tell the story but to not have 1 is shocking.

I completely agree we need better fullbacks, I'm all for overloading that position. If it were up to me I'd go crazy and bring in 2 new LB's and sell Trippier & Aurier and buy another RB as well. I have hope that Dier can turn around this rough patch but if Wanyama is permanently crocked then I'm all for bringing in another defensive midfielder, if he takes Diers job then so be it.

I see Ivorian striker Lacina Traore is a free agent, maybe he would be "worth a punt" for our back up striker role ? Im sure he was linked before. Standing over two metres it would be like the second coming of Peter Crouch who did well for us in the past.

No point in signing a player like that - we have one in Llorente, and we just don't play crosses to heads

I caught the highlights. Was definitely a perfect ball to bypass the defender.

Rio Griffiths to Lyon. But buy all accounts he had a bit of an attitude. Thinks he is the bees knees. For what it’s worth I think he has only played for Lyons youth team and only as a sub. Could be wrong as I don’t really follow youth football as much as I should, but he seems like a talent without the head. The only player we should worry about leaving, at this point, is Edwards who has been doing pretty well in the Dutch league. Got in the eredivisie team of the week last week... then got sent off unfairly in a mid week fixture.

The positive side of me would like to think that were we to have a quiet January window, that the money we save, combined with the money we set aside for the last TW would rollover to the next summer TW, adding to those funds. Meaning, we'd have a fairly sizable fortune to spend.

Sadly, I'm guessing the reality is different. In all likelihood, the money we didn't spend, went straight back into the stadium development.

I also don't think it's likely we'll have much money next summer either. Methinks the stadium costs are gonna be a bit of an albatross for some time. Glad to be proven wrong, mind you. Just lowering my expectations accordingly.

I'm not sure who we could realistically get who could improve our match day squad when playing Europa league football in our new stadium.

His job lies elsewhere. You need to see the pattern of play better- it's no coincidence he diverts the ball to a more creative player as we approach the last third. Every time. Instructions.

If he does want to leave of course I agree he needs replacing with quality. Not least because the other three midfield contenders have been injured/aren't CL level.

I'm not arguing for wholesale changes- retaining the core and the spirit has obviously been good for us- there's a role for all three RBs to play this season. But the left side is of real concern- Rose isn't what he was, and Davies doesn't deserve a shirt.

There’s a lot of silly snobbery when it comes to players in the PL. For some reason if a player comes from Europe it always feels more exciting. Said to people 2 years ago about Arnautovic and got laughed at. Many had same response to Shaqiri this season. Have to admit I didn’t see it in Richarlison, ok they paid top dollar but wouldn’t surprise me if he is a £60m player in 2 years. Rice is definitely worth a look, not totally convinced though. But I think there’s lots of little gems in the PL go unspoken about because of snobbery.

I'm not sure how premier league players can fit into the hidden gem category, they are pretty much the exact opposite.

The simple reason is money.

Agree. straight away we could replace GKN with Edwards end of season. That would add to our home grown and club trained quota for CL. I think we can sell Janssen and Llorente and replace them with one player. We don’t really need 3 forwards as we only play 1 up top and we know Son can do a job there when needed. And a decent 3rd choice English keeper shouldn’t be hard to find if we don’t think we have a 3rd choice in our youth set up.

Agree with all that and since it's relatively straight-forward to do, it begs the question 'why didn't we do this in the summer?'

Even a little bit of tidying up the squad and 'housekeeping' would have been a better TW than we got

Reo Griffiths, Problem was the kid is 17 and he had played a handful games for the u/23's and looked out of his depth, More a case of blowing his own horn before he had proven himself at a decent level

Does anyone know how Leandro Paredes has done at Zenit? He was a big talent a couple of years back at Roma, seems like exactly the type of deep lying playmaker/ball winner that we’d need. I’m just not sure how he’s done in Russia.

Ive been thinking about Ramsey for a while but I’m not sure. I think he’d be good under Poch but is he disciplined enough for central midfield, Im not sure?

Also I don’t think he’s home grown for Europe. They seem to be open to selling him in January. A little bit of revenge for Judas!

Ramsey's a talent for sure, although I'd be more worried about his injury history.

There's always room for another attacking midfielder, especially if we decide to flog Jansen and Llorente, and move Son up top to be a permanent back-up for Kane.

Never heard of him (although that says more about my footballing knowledge than anything), but I'd imagine Zenit have given him monster wages.
