Brozovic or someone in a similar ilk whom can pass, tackle and has a decent engine. Watching Dier aka turning circle of a tank is painful to watch and with Wanyama forever injured we’re light in central midfield.

Wish list for me is to see the following move on in the next 12 months:

Aurier, Rose, Dembele, Sissoko, Vorm, Nkoudou, Janssen, Llorente & I'd like to see the following happen:

A new right back, someone like Mendy at Lyon at left back, Lobotka, De Jong, A HG goalkeeper and to see us finally get Martial. Oh and Grealish :s

Realistically the only thing that will happen out of all of that will be Dembele & Llorente leaving.

This was a wish list right? ;)

Would you really place Dembele leaving on your wish list ?

To be fair, why wouldn't he?

Dembele has indeed been a great player for us, and a loyal member of THFC. However, he literally can't be depended upon anymore, has to be wrapped in bubble wrap between & during games, and even then, he barely completes 90 minutes and then can't play to any acceptable standard if required for the next fixture.

We have to stop being romantic & accept the fact that we are not in a position to carry passengers, if we truly wish to become successful.

This is not a slur on Dembele. He can be a joy to watch, but unfortunately for us those moments of joyful viewing are now too few & to far between.

I just think we’re still too short in that area to simply dispose of him without bringing anyone else in. Winks is the only non defensive midfielder we have to play alongside a defensive one in Dier or Wanyama and I’m not putting Sissoko in the picture. To me it’s nothing to do with his service to the club but that I think we’d be shooting ourselves in the foot if we get rid, I don’t think we’re in a position to be lessening our options in centre midfield personally.

If Eriksen doesn't sign a new contract before January and it becomes clear there is no chance he'll sign a contract it is a possibility we might have to sell him in January. His value will drop dramatically next summer as clubs will have us by the balls. They may choose to try and push him somewhere in Jan to get a higher price, sorry to be negative but that's where we are currently with him. If that occurs we'll sign someone in my opinion.

Otherwise only thing that might happen is we sell Dembele and bring in a cheap CM. Realistically the correct prediction is zero signings though.

We need to see how Onomah shapes up. He didn't get much of a chance at AV so hopefully he'll get more of a chance to show what he can do this time around.

You could compare Dembele’s situation with Ledley King who had much more severe injury issues and played on for 4 years after doctors told him to retire. For at least 3 of those years he continued to give us excellent service despite barely being able to train.

Dembele does not have as severe issues as Ledley. But there is a parallel. He has to be managed well, which I’m sure includes the intensity of his training, he clearly can’t play in every game but finding someone to replace him is almost as difficult as it was to replace King.

If all Dembele does for us is to come off the bench after 60 minutes to help us close out games when we are ahead or we need him to bring composure, organization and physical presence to our midfield then that can only be positive. It was a bad move by Poch to play him as our only holding midfielder against Watford but in the games against Newcastle and Fulham he was used as he should be. He also played well for the most part in the United game although you could argue that it would have been no less effective if he had not started that game and came on early in the second half. He can also help Winks become a better player and ultimately maybe his replacement.

So overall his contribution remains important until we find someone who can effectively replace him so why would anyone want him to leave before then ?

No need to get rid of Dembele, what we need is signing someone that can keep him out of the team. Then Dembele can come on after 60th minute in every game and kill off games. That's the strenght in depth needed to compete.

I agree, but I think its clear we aren't going to sign someone to take his place until he is gone.

one of the main reasons we failed in the summer was the size of our squad
we did need to invest, but due to squad size, and HG issues we also had to sell, which never happened. how many players should we buy and then pay others that can't play because they can't be included in the squad.

what don't you understand and disagree with @cliff jones

Don’t think we will sign anyone but if we somehow did this would be my list (tried to be as realistic as possible)

Musa Barrow - Atalanta (ST)
I’ve been watching him for around a year and he’s like a mix of Drogba & Eto’o

Hakim Ziyech - Ajax (CAM/LW)
Would be the perfect Eriksen back up but I highly doubt he would leave Ajax to be a backup player. Can also play on the wings so that would help

Maddison - Leicester
Don’t think he will leave Leicester after half a season but hope we go after him in the summer

David Neres - Ajax (RW)
Decent pace, good at taking on players and creating chances. And he’s girlfriend lives in London so he might be interested if we want him

CM - Frenkie De Jong (Ajax) Diawara (Napoli) N’Dombele (Lyon) Haidara (RB Salzburg) Ruben Neves (Wolves)
Any of these CM’s would be good

Ryan Sessegnon - Fulham
Won’t leave in January but hope we go after him in the summer. Should’ve signed him 2 years ago

LB - Grimaldo (Benfica) Tierney (Celtic) Shaw (Man United) Alex Telles (Porto)
Grimaldo would be my first choice but any one them would do

As I said don’t think we will sign anyone but these are the players I would like us to go after
