Amazing if you think about that itk was saying we were fully intending to sell Toby in the summer and not bring in a replacement. Just imagine how truly fucked we'd be now if we'd done that.

Injury aside, it could have made Foyth classed as good as Joe Gomez - just like Walker-Peters could be rated as high as Alexander-Arnold if he'd get game time.

Aw shit, forgot about that part. Genk need to be going through almost crippling bankruptcy for us to consider a low ball bid for 4 months before actually attempting to buy the player.
You left out the most important bit- said club facing bankruptcy accept a takeover bid from far eastern financiers who tell us to shit or get off the pot. We get off the pot but also manage to shit on ourselves walking out the door

Wasn't that a back and forth deadline bidding war with Everton?

We also didn't find the fee reasonable, it took dead line day desperation and pressure from Pochettino for us to do the deal (or should i say any deal from Poch point of view)

It really is sad to look back on past windows about who Poch wanted/almost got... How different would this squad be with Barkley, Pereira, Batshuayi, Mane, or any of the CM's we were linked with this summer..

we was never going to pay them the money Chelsea and Liverpool did, and Batshuayi has already proved he isn't to good when sitting on the bench week in week out

Wilson at Bournemouth? Good player and would add something different up top

I actually think Joshua King would be far more suitable for us. Can do what Wilson does, but also play up front alone (Kane cover) and in various attacking positions (like Son). The only season he's been allowe to play pure striker he scored 16 Premier League goals. Great attitude and work effort, explosive and strong - could be what Vardy have been in recent years.

I think if we had a talented second striker they would play a decent amount. We've seen Poch play 2 strikers a bit and even in important game i.e. Real Madrid away. If we had a player like Batshuayi I think he would force himself into the team a decent amount. We've had complete shit so they never play.

Would be a perfect fit for Kanes backup.

He’s quick and direct- I don’t know much else though?

Good goal scoring record strong on the ball and would press well.
I’m not going to lie and say I watch Bournemouth every week but on the 10 or so games I’ve seen him live and clips of his goals and play on the highlights he generally impesses me.

From what I can find online we paid the same for Sissoko as Mane and they are on similar wages - 30m, 90k a week.
It's all with the benefit of hind sight obviously, but we found Mane too expensive. Then the transfer market went extreme during that summer, and we became desperate ended up paying the same for Sissoko.

I'm surprised I got two disagree ratings earlier for stating actual facts.

I'd rather play Onomah, Skipp or Edwards (position and role dependent) than Sissoko. And Walker-Peters rather than signing Aurier.
That would be a 50m player on 150k a week in a position we actually needed. Done is done, but it show if we take the right decisions there's room for improvement in the squad even with our spending. Use of Academy boys is supposed to be our strategy to compete according to Levy, said when we built the training ground. We should use it more, while spend what we do got on top top players rather than squad players.

Main reason why we got Luka Modric and Gareth Bale was because we fired quick and paid what it cost when others were careful and questioned their worth.

Ricardo Pereira scored a wonderful solo goal yesterday from Left back.

Can't believe we didn't go for him.
He went for a similar price to that which we paid for Aurier. Great buy from Leicester and Maddison also looking like a shrewd acquisition.

He’s not actually been good - you lot need to watch more than just MOTD before you start pining for players. Aurier is far better than him.

if I remember correctly the info we got was Mane visited the training ground but went to Liverpool on 130k, I find it hard to believe we would pay £30m only 4m less then what Mane went to for Sissoko and pay him the same wages. All I can say is Mane must of chose them over us, because even if Sissoko was having his best performance, he wouldn't be as good as Mane having a bad day.

I'm also shocked it was the same window as I thought Mane was there a season before, but have seen they joined the same one.

I don't think he would of myself, Poch rarely throws a new player in early. Janssen isn't shit, he struggled to get the confidence, then suffered personal probs. Llorente isn't shit (a WC Winner), we just don't play to his strengths when he is on.

There's been a few mentions of Levy pushing Sissoko especially in poch's book so feel like his negotiations would have been different on a player that Levy fancied.

That was 8 years ago. If his only strength is being able to head the ball he probably isn't very good.

Janssen is most definitely shit.

but Mane joined Liverpool early and there must of been interest if he visited the training ground. so I doubt it was Sissoko instead of, unless Levy just didn't ever want to see Sissoko play against us again, as those where always his best performances
