I have no issue with Ange picking PEH over Lo Celso as I have been happy with his decision making so far this season and he clearly doesn't rate Lo Celso based on his lack of game time this season.

The bigger issue is why Lo Celso is still here wasting a squad place when we could have sold him in the last transfer window and reinvested the money/wages in a creative player that Ange would be happy to put in the team when Maddison was unavailable.
I like Gio and was hoping he’d finally get a real chance in an attacking system under Ange. That clearly isn’t going to happen. But regardless of my opinion of him I 100% agree with you. Why keep him, there seemed to be interest in summer and his contract is running down. Half a season on the bench is not going to do anything for us or him. Doesn’t really make any logical sense.

More likely fitness issue after his injury in Fulham game

I think Lo Celso impressed enough in pre season but then the season starts and he hasn't pushed on. So we wanted to keep him in the summer but now we have found he's not good enough.

Gutted. I was hoping Bentancur would be ready to start.

Now not only the defence is fucked but the attack somewhat blunted too with PEH instead of Bentancur (or Lo Celso).

Pierre has proven that he can score and assist for us and that was while playing in a midfield two in a defensive team. He can do a good job today I have no doubt.

Was wring about Agne going for attack instead of workhorse, but maybe PEH has shown something in training.

Bentancur not ready to start yet, another 30 mins under his belt today and build from there. No point rushing him back.

Is Bentancur more creative than PEH? Don't think the numbers suggest that. Bents doesn't play 10. Lo Celso does but hasn't played any minutes since returning from injury.

Gotta be honest. I’m disappointed in that lineup. I have the same feelings as when we went out of the cup to Fulham. I thought Ange would be brave here.

Emerson LB for me, as he's a lot more adept at dropping into midfield for the ball as Ange likes his full backs to do.
Could go either way. I think you’re right about Emerson falling into midfield but equally he’s a lot faster getting back if we’re playing classic Ange's style of football, so may be CB.

As long as Davies and Dier buy into the way of passing out from the back, we will be fine. I hope they can forgot the past 3 years football they have played under Mourinho and Conte.

But I think Vicario would be blasting them if they keep passing back.

To me Lo Celso seemed quite demoralized when he has come on or started against Fulham, and we can only assume from his lack of minutes when he has been on the bench that he just isn't showing any great desire in training to force his way into the team.

As I have said, i don't believe that a ACM is THAT important in Ange's system, as the aim is for all players to create space with their passing and movement, and when it is implemented well even functional players can achieve it without anything too fancy.

We still have game changing options on the bench though in Bentancour, Gil, Veliz, Donley and Lo Celco (be very telling if Ange turns to Donley before Lo Celso)

Agree with this. I do think there is an ability to interchange Davies and Emerson during the game but I think Emerson is just better on the ball generally.

I like the side he's picked under the circumstances.

Its still a team oozing experience.
