I'm mad that Harry did not get to play. If he had scored 2 goals then he would have been the all time joint best goalscorer in the WC group stages history.

There are still games to come and he has had a rest.

I'd play this Tuesday, it's our best side.

Pickford
Stones Dier Maguire
Trippier -------------------- Rose
Henderson
Alli -------- Lingard
Kane -- Sterling

Ok so explain then how you are happy about England starting very well but then getting worse by the end of the group stage?
I don't know what you mean.
This evenings match was clearly played as è dead rubber - if we won, great, but if not, we're already through to the next round, we rested some key players and we may well have an easier passage to the later stages.

Would you rather have Brazil in the semis (let's just pretend we make it that far - for the more sensitive among us), or Switzerland? Personally, I would feel more confident facing Switzerland. It's not arrogance. It is what it is. Brazil are a better team. And I'm sorry if some delicate fans feel offended by this.
Why on earth would that offend anyone?

And any team getting to a world cup 1/4 final is good enough to beat anyone else. We're getting way ahead of ourselves. Colombia could easily do us, and Mexico, who have been largely excellent, could easily do Brazil... Who have been largely shite. Switzerland have proven themselves to be a very good footballing side, and could do us as well.

The point is that worrying about draws when you talking about the 8 best teams in the world is elementary... Whereas winning the actual football matches is all you should be focusing on. Southgate has made a rod for his back, and he will be beaten severely over the head with it should we wimp out against whoever the fuck we play.

Dier and Danny will not start
No but they should.

CB makes Walker's brain farts more costly, and Stones is just as comfortable on the ball. Dier is the best CB in the squad period.

Rose is just a better WB than Young simply.

Some of you guys should chill out; Rashford puts his one on one away and it's a draw. Belgium second-string certainly didn't overrun our second-string.

Rio Ferdinand on the BBC the other day was saying how it was crucial to rest players in tournament football to avoid burn-out. The guy knows what he's talking about, as does Southgate.

At the end of the day, we've given the vast majority of the squad game-time now, rested our first XI and have to beat two from Columbia, Switzerland and Sweden to make the semi-finals.

I say that's all positive.

Plus, the injury that Harry suffered tonight wasn't that serious....oh, wait, I got that wrong; he wasn't injured. Just nicely rested for the next game.

Excellent!

If Rose was gonna play Tuesday I don't think he'd have played today. The only ones that will play Tuesday that played tonight are Stones and Pickford, and crucially Stones was taken off at HT.

It will be the same team that started against Tunisia.
