That young lad for Costa Rica, Jewison Bennette, looks a real talent at only 17!

Gotta respect German fans being willing to call out FIFA, UEFA, and whatever else they think is wrong with football.

Not sure need a new thread or gonna use this one. 5 months till Ko. Doubt this was the vision sold to FIFA as a stadium complex. Hopefully surrounding area will be a bit more amenable come November.

Don't worry. Those 15 palm trees will provide plenty of shade for fans. If they survive the walk to the stadium, that is!

With a bit of luck another WC qualifying country will come out in support of Russia, FIFA will throw them out and Ukraine will get their place.
I had an idea on this.... Instead of a third and fourth place playoff, award both losing semi-finalists a bronze medal and play a combined team against Ukraine.

They get to play in the WC and the world is seen to support them.

Qatar World Cup chief warns Southate that any protests about human rights will lack credibility unless he sees what is happening there.

“Before you take a uniform position, have an informed unified approach that is not based on entities, whether they are news outlets or NGOs, that might have an agenda.”

Yeah! Like Amnesty International. They have an ‘agenda’. I think it’s human rights.

Despite being held in November, air conditioning still has a big part to play in preventing the total evaporation of players. Looks like a vast amount of energy will be needed to drive these monster machines.

I think they still missed a trick: white grass. Reflects heat, keeps everyone cool.

As I said in the other Qatar thread

I agree with all the issues on Qatar but find the attitude towards Qatar and UAE startling

The amount of Indian Deaths in 2020
Qatar - 385
UAE - 2454

The amount of Indian Deaths in 2021
Qatar - 420
UAE - 2714

The west's relationship with UAE is startling, at least with Saudi Arabia people acknowledge their abuses but I think because of the influences of Dubai and Man City, we are happy to ignore the dystopian nature of the UAE

Look at the press's relationship with the awarding of this World Cup and yet happily lap it up at Man City never querying their abuses.
