Would AVB face backlash if he dropped Friedel?

Otherwise, why the hell is he still choosing him for Europa.

We've adopted a high line because we have a world class keeper who allows us to, we can't play the same way with a fossil in goal but we still do.

If it's not broken, stick with it.

One can only go so far for loyalty. Changes must be made.

Dam right. His defenders didnt do him any favours but Brad rarely moved off his line tonight. From here on in i think we should be playing our best team in the EL because we have a great chance of winning it.

He made a promise that the reserve Keeper would play in the Cups and it seems that AVB is an honourable chap.

I said over on the ratings vs Inter, we bought Lloris at just the right time because in terms of ability I feel that Brad has dropped off the cliff since the turn of the year.
This may be down to the high back line that we play with but if we're honest with ourselves we know that it's just as likely to be age related!

I think if a change in nets is to be made, it will be Brad who has to ask AVB! As a model pro, I doubt Brad would want to do it and if I were in his position I probably wouldn't either

The tactics were wrong, not the keeper. AVB has to take his share of the blame for sending us out to just play keep ball and pass for passing sake, rather than actually looking to do something with the ball.

I've always preferred Lloris over Friedel even when most of SC was saying he was a fantastic keeper and was on par with Lloris. I always said he was decent but not special and the same is true now. I think that Inter is probably the best team we'll have to face unless Chelsea get through but I always believed that Lloris might come in at some point.

Truth is, we shouldn't need him. We can't get Kaboul back fast enough and I would have played Cauker rather than Gallas

None of us know what the tactics were. I don't believe for a second that he told Adebayor and Defoe not to bother tonight. No manager would not try to score, especially with two strikers on the pitch. I'm sure he told them to keep the ball and look for opportunities, thing is tonight there was very little in the way of opportunities

When he agreed to stay despite the interest from Blackburn I think something was mentioned about a coaching role, I think, but I strongly suspect that he was also assured that he would get games - probably that the Europa slot would be his.
It is true, however, it was more noticeable than ever how stationary he is compared to Lloris, but we shouldn't have been in that position anyway. We were far too negative, right from the start and trying to play out 90 minutes, even at 3 - 0, put us on the back foot when there was no need to be.

AVB seemed convinced from the start we had to score to win the tie. Well, he was right, but only because we approached the tie as if we'd lost the first leg 3 nil.

Friedel looked out of his depth, but only because he was being asked to play in a style completely alien to him.

He's trying to show him some sort of loyalty for the way he (Friedel) handled being dropped for Lloris.

But there comes a point where you have to say...
FUCK RIGHT OFF FRIEDEL! :p

silly to keep on playing him if AVB actually want's to win this thing. Wonder if we draw Chelsea will he still play him and Gallas, if we get to the final will he still put out a weaker team so that this older folks can get a little game?

It would be more of a kick in the teeth for Friedel if we got to the final and then AVB dropped him for Lloris, and Gallas for Dawson because it clicked that we are going to need our best players...so better to drop him from now but I dont think he will

To be fair, this is probably Friedal's only bad game for the entire season.
To drop him would be extremely harsh but with Lloris playing so well at the moment, it probably should be done if we want to go all out and win the Europa cup.
Also if we are making the change in goal, we probably shouldn't be rotating the defense too going forward, which means BAE and Dawson also should play the remaining games.
It going to be a tough decision for AVB to make. I think more priority has to be given to the EPL to ensure we finish in the top 4.

Felt sorry for Brad after that, when AVB went to console him he looked utterly dejected.

I didn't even think brads did that bad. We all know he's the inferior keeper, that's the real problem. Parker did my nut in more than freidal.

There's too much blame going to Freidel but now we're at this stage of the cup we should play our best players.
