At the start of the season probably not as like everyone else I was hoping for even more so at least a trophy and 5th upwards.

By six games in I 'd have settled for 11th alone because it was clear we were going nowhere near the top by the end of September.

No fucking way

this season has been a disaster

And yet still our most successful for 8 years!

Wouldn't have settled for it at the beginning of the season - but then I didn't know what was about to happen to BMJ.

As soon as Juande took over I would have happily settled for it.

Yeah I think this echo's my sentiments, by November time I would probably have settled for it.

Deeply disappointed at the way things have gone the last month or so.

It's fifty-fifty tbh, if we go on next year and are back in and about 5-6th, then this season is fine for me, if we are still mid table next year than its a disaster.

Out of the four options it must be 11th and cup, as 5th/6th ultimately give you the same as a Cup (Europe) but without the prestige of winning something!

Do we know for sure that the goat's a dude?

I don't know anything for sure, except that talking in the third person doesn't effect an air of mystery so much as an air of profoundly conceited self-satisfaction. Anyone who loves themselves that much is effectively sexless anyway.

Winning trophies is what its all about.

Unless your winning the league whats the point.

This has been the best season for years. Beating the Scum in The semis and then beating chelski in the final.

This piss taking has been top notch.

Trophy win will always come first.

It only took until the end of September before Europe through the league had become unrealistic.

i would say no, even though we have won a cup i still find it disapointing in finsihing so low in the league and behind teams that shouldnt be ahead of us. After 2 5th place finishing i would have hoped we moved on and carried on challaging to break the top 4, though this wont be as good as winning a cup it would bring in alot more cash and alot more notice... also CL football!! i feel we have taken afew steps back this season, even with a cup to our name

im in a meh sort of mood about our season, im happy as larry (hes a really happy guy, think hes on some kinds happy drugs) about winning the cup. to be honest i could have coped with the 11th place finish but the lackluster displays since wining the cup have started to bug me a lot,

If you want to go a few more years without winning trophies I suggest you head down the emashites stadium and watch the scum.

Trophies all the way down the Lane

At the start of the season if we had been offered 11th or 12th place and a League cup win would you have taken it ? Despite all our moans and groans since then I guess the answer is yes . Would it have still been yes if we had won the League Cup by beating say Villa and Portsmouth in the semis and final instead of our London friends ?

The answer's no for me. I wouldn't have taken the League Cup and 11th place if offered it at the start of the season.

I'll look back on this season with more satisfaction than the last two. And they were the best in a long time.

We're all desperately disappointed with the league, but the memories from the cup...

Being at Wembley to see Ledley lift a trophy having beaten Ar5ena1 and Chelsea to do it was an indescribable feeling for me. I know for a fact finishing fifth didn't match it, and I doubt finishing fourth would've.

EDIT: So, in answer to the original question: yeah, I'd have taken it. I wanted us to win a trophy again more than anything.

Isnt it ironic that since we have employed an "arguably" better manager (or a manager who is an improvement on certain deficiencies of the last regime) we are in fact more content on a much lower league position.

Is it because of future expectations? or the cup win?

If it's the latter, do you think that had Jol won the CC Cup we would have expected more of him this season?

Surely everyone would take 11th and a cup over those options regardless of what stage of the season it is at the time of asking.

at the start of the season i wanted 4th and i'd take 4th and no cup over 11th and a cup. Thats not and option though so 11th and cup wins hands down.

the season befor we pushed for 4th and got close to final's of cups though, so i was hoping a good league run and a cup run could be made, at the start of the season i woudlnt have taken it as i had higher hopes, but thinking about it now, after the start we had and all the problems, if i was offerd it after that i would have taken it, but not before the season started

I agree with Ever, we could of had a cup and finished 7, if the team had carried on giving 100% from the end of feb til now. That would of been acceptable

Just before Jol got sacked I would've taken 17th, no cup, and no sex for a year.

We're at least 12th and won a trophy so I can't complain. Pity the karma police are holding me to my word on the sex though.

The goat needs to stop talking in the third person. It makes him sound like a twat.

The Goat has decided to speak exclusively in the third person just to wind idlepete up. The Goat respects idlepete's twatspotting abilities....know thyself and thy shalt know thy brothers.

I just think a more respectable league finish should've happened. Like 6th.

11th and the fizzy pop cola cup do0esn't attract big players.
