He must have good conacts.

Played the racist card more like.

It is people like him, that pisses so many people off it creates even more racism, creates issues, creates borders and hurdles the black ****. Yes he is black and he is a ****, is that racist or any different than being called a lanky ****, fat ****, ginger ****?

In fact, everyone should have there tongues removed at birth so we cant speak as not to offend anyone.

Fuck, he annoys the shit out me.

They really aren't, the away fans regularly hiss at the lane. I can honestly say I've never been to a game against Arsenal, West Ham or Chelsea where there hasn't been hissing.

I used to be a season ticket holder mid 90s to 2005. Went to plenty of away games too. Stamford bridge, Elland Road and Upton Park were the only grounds where I can remember the hissing and vile chants about the holocaust. I don't recall anything like that at Highbury. Stamford Bridge was always the worst. I really hate that lot.

I was a ST holder at around the same time. I only once heard anything like that at the library but it was half hearted and frankly ill thought out. The scum fans surrounding this little group of oxygen thieves quickly had them sorted out. Hardly surprising given the similar backgrounds of our two fanbases.

SB has always been vile. In the early 90's it was fucking terrifying quite frankly. UP wasn't far behind on occasion.

I'd be surprised if they have a legal leg to stand on.

Our use of the word goes way back and was quite witty at the time. We should move on really. There are plenty of arguments for dropping it's use. It is an offensive term to many Jews and non-jews. It's no longer witty. It encourages low-life from other clubs to engage in anti-Semitic chanting.

I am all for an open and honest debate regarding the matter but Baddiel and now these twats are making matters worse.

This is just getting more and more ludicrous. Clearly this Herbert fella is just trying to use our club to add weight to the SBL's 10 point plan.

So let me get this right.....we are to blame for any racist chants/songs that opposition fans throw at us?

Just because there are some idiots out there who persecute people based on a person's religion or even the religion of their grandparents doesn't make them correct. Also, the vast majority of Semites are not Jewish.

That seems to miss the entire point which is that the characteristic is only relevant because someone, a bigot, chooses to focus on to persecute people who have it.

One further point I forgot to mention on the use of the term Yid by Jews who speak Yiddish is that it is pronounced differently. The affectionate term Yid when said by one Jew to another is pronounced "Yeed", the pejorative term is pronounced "Yid".

I suspect that Mr Peter Herbert and his Society of Black Lawyers have their own agenda in stirring things up. Raising your own profile by whatever means, particularly at a time when there are calls for 'Black' players to be represented separately is an astute move.

Their 10 point plan published before their meeting tomorrow with the FA, PFA, Premier League and 'Kick It Out' trustees includes;

a minimum six to nine-month ban for racial abuse, rising to a five-year ban for a third offence

the creation of representative associations for black players, managers and coaches

a 20% quota at all levels of the FA, PFA, clubs as well as football agents and referees

I dare say the Society of Black Lawyers would ensure it is in the forefront should any legal representation be required in the courts or FA, plus the representation of the 1 in 5 quota they're demanding at all levels of the FA, PFA, Clubs, Agents and Referees.
2009 Census figures state that 12.5% of the population is non-white and only 2.9% is Black or Black-British, whereas 6% is Asian or Asian-British so it'll be interesting to see exactely how 'representative' of the population they think football should be!

To a cynic this would seem to be a potential 'nice little earner'.

The debate over the use of the 'Y' word goes back at least six years, it's nothing new.

In what world is a race based employment quota not racist?

Ok... Imaginary scenario. Rules are 20% of employees must be black.

1 black employee leaves The FA. This leaves them with 19 black employees and 80 white ones.

Myself (white) and LL Cool J (Black) both apply for the position. LL Cool J is thick as shit, I'm an expert in my field.

LL Cool J gets the job on the basis that he is black and I am white. Therefore I have been refused a job due to my race.

How is that not racist?

Yes it is racist to call someone a "Black ****" and very different from the other examples you give.

I just wondered what in this statement you object to?

It's both, actually (well, judaism is a religion, but being jewish is both religious and ethnic). It's not a race though (Ethiopian jews don't share the same DNA as Asheknazi jews, for example).

/RE teacher.

I don't mind neg reps, but I reckon a 'disagree' warrants an explanation.

I work (for my sins) in Plaistow & was recently chatting to a female colleague who is black about football. She let slip that she supports both Arsenal & west ham (wtf!), I shook my head & she said your not a Man U fan are you? I laughed and said no, Tottenham. "You're a f***ing Yid!" She shouted in response. I wonder what the SBL would make of that?

I agree with you on many things, TGL, and this stop the 'yid army' chant subject angers the fuck out of me too as it's total nonsense, and this guy is a self-serving xxxx, yes, but what you said there is just not cool and your reasoning is simply wrong which you use to validate saying it. And I think you know that.

And no I'm not going to explain why because I'm certain you're smart enough to already know why. And it also just looks wrong on this forum; you'd expect it on a Chelsea forum. We're not like that here.

Name one high profile rapper in UK that generally uses the N word?
How about every single one? Just because the N-word may not be used in the songs from Wylie and Dizzee Rascal that make the 'Now that's what I call music!' albums, but it is used on most of their other songs.

I personally feel that the SBL's accusations are an insult to intelligence. Of course context is paramount. If context was not important then pretty much every stand up comedian would have to be arrested for hate crimes.

You can guarantee that if opposition fans are using the most heinous moment of history to belittle and antagonise some of our supporters, then I am standing in solidarity with my fellow supporters.

George Carlin can sum up my thoughts on this argument far better than I can:

So what you're saying is that you're not part of an ethnic group but you defend the right to publicly use words which are considered derogatory to that group when used by a someone outside of that group? Just so I'm clear.

I'm saying that I am defending the right of us to call ourselves Yids as a supporting group, even if we are not Jewish. If I thought generally Jewish people were offended in any way by our use of that term then I would change my view. I do not believe it to be used in an offensive context, in fact I believe it to be the opposite. I hope that makes sense.
