***PLAYER THREAD***

A quick search revealed that there isn't actually a player thread for the Frenchman so I took it upon mself to create one.

I really hope that he can make a full recovery from injury and establish himself as a regular again, because he proved on Wednesday night just how incredible he is. Tackles, interceptions, pace, strength, aerial ability, he really has got the lot. The thing I also loved is that he celebrated every single one of our goals with such passion and joy - he is clearly in love with the club.

Give him a new contract immediately!! It's just not worth the risk of another club coming in and snapping him up on a free.

When fully fit, our centre back pairing of Vertonghen and Kaboul will be among the finest in Europe.

I really thought we would never see him at his best again which made the Newcastle game even better. Kabs and Verts are a dream partnership. I suspect that Chiriches will learn a huge amount from them, especially Younes who was dodgy when he first arrived in the prem.

Agreed. I was shocked when I saw him in the team, and I was even more shocked when he completed 90 minutes.

It may sound silly, but for me that felt as important as the 3 points.

Vlad should learn a lot from Kaboul, agreed. And he will still find plenty of game time, even if Kaboul stays fit for a prolonged period, as we need to micromanage the Frenchman to protect him from injury.

Much as I love Michael Dawson and his passion for the club, having Kaboul back is a massive boost. We can now press the ball from the back 4 without fear of being slaughtered for pace if we lose it. I can't think of a better 3 at the middle of defence than Lloris, Kaboul and Vertonghen.

I thought he looked excellent the other night and was actually the better of the 2. Him and Adebayor will be like 2 top drawer new signings. In fact you wouldn't get too much change out of 50 million if you bought them. Not to mention getting sandro back and Lamela can only get better once he is fit.

Things are looking positive at the moment.

Just hope he can stay fit for more than 5 minutes. I don't think he will get a new deal as things stand which would be a shame as at his best he is very good indeed.

Might not be a popular opinion, but when he's fully fit he'd be the first outfield name on the team sheet for me - ahead of even Vertonghen or Ade. the leadership and stability that this absolute beast of a man can give us is possibly the difference between us finishing in the top 4 or outside of it.

Genuinely think we have 2 of the 3 best CB's in the league. We should be honoured.

This one's going to have to be carefully negotiated. Great player but it's hardly as if we've got value for money for the millions of pounds he's cost us in the last two seasons.

Wonder if we'll go for a Ledley style pay-as-you-play deal.

Following on from @walworthyid 's post, how much would Kaboul actually be worth in today's market if he had 3 or 4 years left on a contract and his injury troubles were behind him? £18m to £20m? £25m? He's just so good on his day.

I can't see TS dropping Dawson though. Club captain and longest serving player, although I'd love to keep the defence the same for the rest of the season, bar Naughton (who wasn't actually that dogshit on Wednesday!)

On his game he is as impressive as Kompany.

Would love him to get a run of games to the end of the season, incentive of forcing his way into French WC team/squad too.

Him and Jan could form a hell of a partnership, the stuff you could see as the base of a team for years. (both able to contribute to the football side too, and not just the destructive side)

Agree. That game against Sunderland we lost which was his first in the PL. He was awful... Shows that patience pay off sometimes.

Kaboul, free of injury, is one of the best around. World class in my eyes.

Tbh it would be extremely difficult to choose between a fully fit Kaboul and Kompany. He's that good.

I don't think he's world class, but has the potential to be. Very good at his best yes but he does struggle in some aspects of his game. One of the main ones is crosses into the box where he mostly gets caught ball watching and losing his man completely. He's struggled with this his whole career. If he could fix that aspect and stay injury free then yes I agree he would be world class.
