Mine would be...
Edwin Van der Sar : off the boil recently but their record of clean sheets in the season was immense, and he played a big part, not only the saves he made, but the organisation as well.
Glen Johnson : Got his place in the England team, deservedly, a South American full back in many ways, not scared to attack, and capable at right wing. He and Belhadj have been immense pushing on for Pompey this season and he's been better than any right back this season.
Rio Ferdinand : What a defender, my sort of player as well, a ball player, reminiscent of Ledley King, but has been fit all season.
Nemanja Vidic : Rio's other half, and an immense defender, not quite in the same "ball-playing" bracket, but still got to be appreciated. In a season where Man Utd. are the only team which seem able to defend it's no surprise that their keeper and CB's are in the team of the year.
Nadir Belhadj : Considered Evra, Clichy, even Disco, but Belhadj has been awesome, similar to Johnson, bombing on and supporting, but a decent defender as well, and versatile, has played left mid and up top for Pompey. Without Belhadj and Johnson, Pompey could be as good as down.
Cristiano Ronaldo : Unfortunately, not as consistently amazing as last season, but amazing all the same, some of the flashes of brilliance are ridiculous, running out of superlatives for him.
Steven Gerrard : Carries that Liverpool side at times, although surrounded by better players this year than ever before probably. Captain Marvel, he is fantastic, the best box to box midfielder in the world this season.
Marouane Fellaini : The best newcomer for me, settled instantly, has an eye for goal and has adapted well to be able to play up top as well this season. He's scored 9 goals in 28 games this season, brilliant in the air and a really bright future. He'll need to curb his enthusiasm for a foul though, very poor disciplinary record.
Luka Modric : Another newcomer to the EPL, toyed with the idea of Ashley Young, Steven Pienaar as well, but Luka just edges it for me. He's been class, slow starting but when Harry came in and moulded a position for him. He's class, his vision and passing are class, he makes our side tick and he even battles as hard as anyone (bar Palacios) to regain possesion. For someone so diminuitive, has lead by example this season.
Wayne Rooney : I have been a critic of him in the past, because he's so able that he maybe should score more goals. He's scored 12 in 27 this season, almost 1 in 2. He is instrumental to Man Utd's success, and he is capable of playing up top or on the left, as is Ronaldo, allowing Ferguson to switch between 442 and 4-5-1 seemlessly.
Fenrnado Torres : Hasn't played maybe as much as he'd like, but still manager 13 goals in 20 games this season. Almost as important as Gerrard to Liverpool, and a massive miss when he's not in the side.
