1) VDV (ever since Ajax days, always felt he was a level above us)
2) Ginola (a true spursy player)
3) Lloris (still get goosebumps from when he signed - astounded!)
4) Klinsmann (wow)
5) Soldado (from his record in Spain - the finisher we have craved, please come good! :angelic:)

Not So Muches
1) Andy Booth (why?????)
2) Gregor Rasiak (see above)
3) Gary Doherty
4) Jamie Redknapp (maybe tainted by his SKY punditry!)
5) Goran Bunjevic

I can see a contrast here... when we get it right it's spectacular, when don't however......

Gallas (Proved me wrong and was a good signing for the first year)

1) van der Vaart because he was my favorite player at that time
2) Davids because he was my first as a member here
3) Richards as he was my first as a supporter following the Judas incident (which is what brought me to Spurs).
4 & 5) Bale. He came in as this kid that could really be the next big thing. And we were able to get him when bigger teams were sniffing around. In fact, Arsenal went in before us and got Walcott. So while expecting it to take time, he really had me excited. And then the injuries and the curse and I forgot about him. Even when rumor was that Harry wanted to sell him (don't know if that's true but it was the rumor), I thought "probably shouldn't but meh". And then he far surpassed what we might have expected. But as good as that sounds, I was also very excited by Holtby :)

I've only ever had one transfer that I truly loathed. Fucking Gilberto. 1.8 on a waste of space that would have been free in four months. And free would have been spending too much

VDV - For obvious reasons
Davids - Bloke was a legend and as my Italian club is Juve couldnt believe we signed him. Plus he wears glasses, so he's cool )
Berbatov - Guy was class for Leverkusen, and to attract and sign him for as little as 10m was amazing business
Modric - Was working a nightshift at the time where I was on here and NewsNow browsing everything Spurs related when he was announced, I then looked at numerous reports and scouting on him, which all described him as the next big thing in Eurpe certainly Croatia.
Eriksen and Lamela double announcement, was pretty excting, just hope Lamela coms good

Least Favourite

Bentley - Never saw the 'next' Beckham in him that everyone else saw, always thought he was a big time Charlie
Murphy - Never liked him or rated him, and don't like him even more now he has gone onto be a pundit, co-commentator or on TalkSport
Raziak - Saw a Championship at best striker before signing him, and thats what we ended up with
Thatcher - Just an awful thug of a player, that was anything but a Spurs style of player
Keller - Just looks like one of them stick goalkeepers you see in low grapics games when he dives

Some time before the 2002 World Cup

Me: We've signed Milenko Acimovic
Everyone: Who?
Me: He's Slovenia's best player, scores loads of goals and Hoddle thinks he's a top-class midfielder
Everyone: Yeah, right.
Me: Just you wait, he'll be ace at the World Cup, then you'll see

Some time during the 2002 World Cup

Everyone: He's rubbish
Me: That's because he's playing with a bunch of lesser players. He'll be great for us. Actually, he's probably saving himself.
Just you wait.

Any time over the following two seasons

Everyone: That Acimovic...
Me: F*** off.

van der Vaart'll always be the favourite. A guy who played in a World Cup final a month before, about to play for Spurs? Fuck yes.

Favourites:

Klinsmann - still recovering from the shock of that signing.

Popescu - I was convinced he was going to be our star player.

Davids - The point where people started to look at us as potentially more than mid-table dross (how times have, erm, changed).

Keane - He was already a player I liked a lot, and I loved it when he signed for us.

Hutton - for no other reason than the fact that I was living with a Rangers fan at the time, and in the months prior to us signing him he'd harped on about how great Hutton was, and how Spurs could only dream of such a player. Guess he got the last laugh.

(special mention for Bale - I thought he looked like an incredibly exciting young player)

Least Favourite:

Jamie Redknapp - never liked him.

Frazier Campbell - more down to the circumstances, and the fact that if he turned out to be any good we had no option to buy. A monumentally pathetic piece of business.

Woodgate - tarnished reputation due to that incident when at Leeds.

Dempsey - like Campbell it was more the anti-climax of deadline day, having sold VDV and missed out on Moutinho.

Too many to mention really.

Biggest dissapointment has to be Frazer Campbell. Not his fault poor bloke, but his signing felt like being on a promise from Kelly Brook and ending up with Susan Boyle.

Favourite -

1) Jürgen Klinsmann - He was my favourite player and I was in tears when we signed him.

2) Sergei Rebrov - I was a fan of the Kiev duo of Shevchenko and Rebrov and I firmly believed Rebrov was the better of the two.

3) VDV - Mostly because he was the first player I bought for every team on Football Manager, but also because he was just what we needed: A winner with all the attributes and attitude to play for Spurs. I really miss him and hope he returns as a coach some day.

Least Favourite -

1) George Graham - I didn't want a Gooner among us and his philosophy was far away from the Tottenham way..

2) Grzegorz Rasiak - "Who?".

3) Frazier Campbell - We sold one of my favourite players and this was his replacement? I'm still struggling to regain the belief I lost that day.

Actually, to add to my earlier post, I thought Colin Lee was a brilliant signing at the time. Not that I'd heard of him before, but we were going through such a bad period with donkey strikers, (Armstrong, Jones, Moores), that we thought this could be 'it'. He scored 4 goals on his debut, and that was that. Another donkey.

Les Ferdinand - Was a goal scoring machine at Newcastle and seemed way too good for us at the time. Thought him and Ginola would be unstoppable.

Rebrov - Him and Schevchenko were immense at Kiev so I figured he'd be the same here.

Bale - Fellow Cardiff boy that Man U were after. Was figuring they'd get him and he'd end up like Giggs there so made up that we got in there first.

Worst

Keane (the second time). Just couldn't forgive him after the left the way he did and wished we'd just let him rot at Liverpool.

Raziak - Joke of a signing. Very obvious at the time too.

Davids - Was awesome for barcelona the season before and kind of in a way saved barcelona future as he did turn their season around otherwise they would of had another manager and no stability

VDV - was awesome that season for Real Madrid

Least Favourite
Paulinho - I didn't see the point as we had siggy

Capoue - didn't see the point as we had 7 cm's or so
