In:
Adebayor, Berbatov, Diarra, Marin + Reo-Coker. (Realistic and Prem experienced)

Out:
Keane, Defoe, Pav, Palacios, Jenas, Bentley, Kranky, Gio + Hutton.

That would pretty much break even in terms of transfer cost + wages

Some good players there

You think Adebayor is realistic though?

I think the potential pitfalls of a Berbatov return would scare Levy understandably - we can't get rid of two players who returned to us at the moment and a 30yo sulker, already unpopular with many fans, with no resale, on big wages, despite being better than all four we have now put together would send a chill down Levy's spine.

I don't think Berbatov has shown any signs that he has lost it but I find it difficult imagining him being agreeable to the idea of coming back. And if he did decide to come back, I would be concerned about his frame of mind.

In terms of the issue of resale value, however, it doesn't seem to deter you from seeing Drogba as a very tasty option?

Probably more by default.

I don't think that Real will be back in for him and I can't see any of the euro giants being interested which leaves the Prem.
United, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Pool would see him as either not good enough, been there done that, or already well stocked for strikers which pretty much only leaves us.

The biggest issue would probably be wages. If we bought him outright we'd be tied into a 4/5 year contract on top of the fee. If we took him on loan for a year it would 'only' cost £6million for the year.

If he takes us into the top 4 we do the long term deal, if he doesn't we can walk away.

I believe this is the only thing that really matters at the moment.

We need new strikers and top class forwards are rare, if one is available we have to take it. Harry's MO will be experienced Premiership players who have won trophies and he certainly won't give a monkey's about Berbatov's history with us so he'll be up for it.

Levy will obviously be the stumbling block but I think he will have probably learnt from last season's lesson and will be willing to get in a top class striker at any cost (assuming the Llorente/Rossi/Falcao etc type deals don't go anywhere) then I think that Berbs and Adebayor will be the default position.

As for the fans, if we saw Modders, VdV, Berbs and Adebayor lining up in the opponents half there wouldn't be too many complaints!
