Upson won't come here to sit on the bench.

Adriano, although brilliant a couple of years back, does have some serious problems.

Diarra is probably holding out for a CL club. YaYa Toure won't leave Barcelona, and if he does, he goes to Arsenal.

Sorry. I like your idea of another back-up GK.

To be fair, thats exactly the type of player i could see Harry Redknapp bring in for those exact reasons. He has a history of picking players up who seem to have lost their way, and revitalising them. Now i'm not saying we could sign Adriano, but he's worth a shout in my opinion.

We don't need anyone new in January I think we should get the best out of what we have. Villa and Everton are doing just find without Arshavin.

1. Defensive midfielder(Toulalan, Cana)
2. Support striker who can play with Pav or Bent, moving Modric to left

or

left winger, allowing Modric to play off lone striker.

I'm still massively confused by the notion of having either Toulalan or Cana. I can't think of two more different defensive midfielders. They are like polar opposite. Toulalan is very classy, good on the ball, positions himself well and does his job with little fuss (or attitude).

Cana on the other hand, is a pyscopathic hacker. He crunches into tackles, puts himself about, gets his team mates fired up, but is constantly out of position (which result in flying recovery tackles which are normally timed well but are always pushing the boundary)

1)Fabregas to leave for spain
2)Sol to be caught doing crack naked with Micheal Barrymore and George Micheal.
3)Emirates to slowly collapse in an hilarious 80's money pit stylie becasue it turns out it was constructed entirely from bio degradable bricks made by pressing millions of tons of human waste into cubiods. Most of that waste was collected from the toilets in N17.

Scott Parker anyone? Don't hear much about him these days but I thought he was West Ham's best player the other day. Wouldn't cost much either. Thoughts?

Exactly why I put both down. We need one of these, I'll leave it to 'Arry to decide which type would best complement the current squad. Personally I think Toulalan would be the better option but I doubt we have much chance of attracting a name like that.

Never seen either of them but i'll trust IOMLS and say I'd prefer Toulalan - if he is the classy ball player he says the guy is.

Must watch more football from other leagues.

I can't see us getting either, but Toulalan by a mile. Cana is, as you say, a headcase, if anything far worse at getting himself caught out of position than Zokora. It's also worth pointing out that in a notoriously defensive, low-scoring league, Marseille are decidedly leaky at the back. If they defended as well as they attacked they'd be running away with the title by now.

I agree we are very unlikely to be able to get someone like Toulalan and I also agree that he would be much better for us than Cana. I don't see Lyon letting Toulalan go and certainly not cheaply.

The problem I see us having is that we aren't in the market for squad players, Harry has come out and said that our side isn't good enough and we need to get more quality.

Except for maybe cover at centre back and keeper we need to be signing players who are better than what we have, whilst still being achievable and not overly expensive.

If everything fell into place I guess my wishlist would be something like:

DM - Esteban Cambiasso - Mourinho is expected to bring in a number of midfielders to freshen up the Inter side. The very impressive Marek Hamsik has been linked repeatedly and rumours are he would be willing to part with Cambiasso and Vieira. If he became available for around £10m there would be a host of teams in for him, but if we want to improve he would be the kind of quality experienced international player we would need.

LM - Joe Cole - Yes it seems unlikely, but maybe Harry could swing this one. I'm sure Harry would love to get him in, even though the reports linking him are almost certainly rubbish. He would offer us a goal scoring threat from the midfield and would be a good character to have in the team. Works much harder these days too. He will only have a year left on his contract at the end of the year and if he doesn't see that much action Chelsea may just be willing to listen.

ST - Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Again would seem a stretch and is coming towards the end of his career but for a year or two he would do a great job. With Huntelaar and maybe Arshavin arriving Real are going to have plenty of options and he would most likely be available on the cheap. Top class strikers are hard to come by at the moment and a proven Premiership striker for little money sounds like something Harry might go for. (I wouldn't bet against someone like Owen arriving either)

I don't have too many thoughts on the cover centre back or keeper. Although I am quite happy with Woodgate, King, Corluka and Dawson it would seem there are occasions we are a little short, particualrly in UEFA cup.
