I like the idea of Hagelaand. We have a rotation of King/him/Woody. We push Zokora to RB to rotate with Gunter. We put Corluka as a holding mid. So with one player, we have taken care of quite a few concerns. I think we can wait on a LW for now and concentrate on the only other need, which is a forward who can play with his back to goal. So that would rule out Owen or Defoe. However I do realize that finding one that can do this so that our strike force can play off him and link with Modric will be tough. Any foreign forward wouldn't settle until the season was almost over. Heskey could do the job, but he is older and I can't think of too many in the EPL that would fit the role and be willing to join.

My wish list includes being able to sell most if not all of the players that seem to have no future at the club, so we can more readily afford some incoming desires.
The list of those that may be sold:

Sanchez
Alnwick
Stalteri
Gilberto
Ghaly
Boateng
Taraabt
Rocha

Which of these will still be with us in Feb '09?

Robbie Keane :)pray:)
Anthony Annan (probably be saying a different defensive midfielder next week!)
Wayne Bridge
Glen Johnson
Wayne Hennesey

There's a fair few I'd like to see shipped out and some other first team squad members who could perhaps be flogged for good dosh to make room for others but think a lot of that should be done in the summer.

Harry's confirmation of a keen interest in Diarra told us one thing: Zokora is not rated as competent in this league at this level. It's a relief to hear a manager state it, however indirectly.

I'm not sure an interest in Diarra implies Zokora isn't rated. Diarra can play in a defensive or attacking role and is a top midfielder. Most clubs would want him. Presumably Zokora would make way but not necessarily and that doesn't mean he's not rated, it just means Diarra's better. Diarra is probably better than all our midfielder. I'm not particularly a fan of Zokora but I definately think we should keep him in the squad at least until the end of the season.

Why Alnwick? Have you seen him play? Wasn´t he supposed to show promise?

Have i seen him play? No.
Wasn't he supposed to show promise? Yes.

But after several manager changes he hasn't been given a game.
The list does not encompass who i do not rate...it is a list of players that seem to have no future with the club, for one reason or another.

I doubt Alnwick will go this window...but i assume that Jansson has surpassed him as the potential keeper of the future.
We may see a clear out of any deadwood in the summer rather than the winter window.

Fair enough, I´ve never seen him either, thought maybe you had some insight. Maybe the promise hasn´t developed as was hoped.

Arshavin would be a massive plus.

Outs:

Gilberto
Ceasar for small yappy type dogs
Rocha?
Ghaly?

I know that the dutch league is what it is but Marcus Berg is really scoring for fun in Gröningen. 29 goals in 42 games, 4 goals yesterday (4:40 is worth a look). Not particulary strong or fast but with a real eye for goals. Pretty young aswell, born in 1986.

My wishlist - Striker Llorente of Bilbao, Javi Martinez of Bilbao, Arshavin.
We'll probably just get some guys on loan though.

That should give us a good enough 1st team to get us out of relegation battle. Probably cost us about 60m though.
