That team under Redknapp was top 5 form?? (I can't remember if it was 5/6th) so I do believe we'll cut the squad to a leaner size and maybe 1 or 2!
He obviously wanted to sign another striker and LW after our failed attempts as Downing and Jones. HR may still sign a striker with potential departures of Bent and Pav but with Modric settling in well on the left will we sign one now.
I'm thinking maybe not, HR may now be looking at Danny Rose becoming fit and to be in the Under 21 squad (the youngest player in the squad) he must be highly thought of to a degree and perhaps wasn't on HR radar as he had never seen him!
Strikers will now depend on what HR is thinking. Does he want 4 top strikers and have to try and keep all 4 happy. I think at least one of Bent and Pav will go. If both go then we will sign at least one striker. The 4th will be Harrys opinion on whether he thinks the likes of Ryan Mason on Obika are ready to be in the first team.
For me I'd like HR to keep hold of Giovanni. Though by trying to sell him to Pompey in January that he doesn't want him. I'm hoping Gio and Harry have spoke and he's willing to give him another go. At Barca he played in the roles that Henry and Messi play in an attacking role but to the right or left of the striker.
We don't play that formation so he would have to play as either a left of right winger or striker. For me he could be the player to cover so we wouldn't need a LW, replacement for Bentley or a 4th striker.
Use our transfer money then to buy the 3rd striker to compete with Keane and Defoe (if we sell both Pav and Bent) and a top CM to compete with Jenas and Palacious (Huddlestone as cover)
So realistically my squad is

Corluka/Woody/King/BAE/Hutton/Dawson/Bale
Lennon/Jenas/Palacious/Modric/NEW SIGNING/Huddlestone/O Hara/Rose
Geovanni
Defoe/Keane/NEW SIGNING
21 squad with Jannson/Dervitte/Bostock/Parratt/Mason/Obika in reserve.
HR may decide that even more of the kids deserve a chance and make the squad leaner by losing one of Hudd or O'Hara and replacing with Parratt, Bostock and if Geovanni is sold then Obika steps in!
