difficult choice for GK, didn't watch us 2000-2001 but heard states the was one of the best GKs at the time, Keller then came on and was class but worrying at direct free kicks, while Gomes is superb shoot stopper but within 1 and 1/2 half season give opponents three penalties and made poor start. For me, Robbo behind those three.

That's mean you need to pick in terms of quality :

Gomes
Corluka - Woodgate - King - Ziege
Lennon - Carrick - Palacios - Modric
Keane - Berbatov

my second team:

Keller
Carr - Dawson - Bassong - Bale
Anderton - Tainio - Jenas - Niko
Defoe - Sheringham

For sure I know about what Ginola did here, but i didn't follow Spurs when he was there, I started to like the club in 2000 but started to support since 2001. at the time i was only 13 or 14 in that time and used only to follow a club in my country.

I'm not going to pick Ginola because he only played a handful of games this decade and he counts as a 90s player for me. He was the best player I have ever seen at Spurs and carried the most lifeless and dull team along in his time here and was genuinely the only reason going to Spurs was worthwhile. The way that tosspot Graham treated him was disgraceful and he really should have made a big impact in this decade for us if the man in the raincoat had not decided to sell him because he hated flair and entertainment.

Anyway, my team of the decade...

Gomes
Corluka Woodgate King Lee
Lennon Carrick Palacios Modric
Keano Berbatov

Well I understand your point now. However, since the thread is about Spurs best team of the decade, I think you could still include players from the last decade who were so evidently outstanding for us, even though you have barely seen them play for us yourself

There's no fucking way I'm putting Berbatwat in any 'best of' Spurs team. What he did on the pitch, he ruined in the dressing room.

On the basis that Campbell, Anderton, Ginola and Sheringham were largely 90's players (and, perhaps, at their best then), and as I find it very difficult to decide how to compare everyone it is easier to omit them, so I'd go for:
Robinson
Carr King Woodgate BAE
Lennon Carrick Palacios Modric
Berbatov Keane
subs: Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, Malbranque, Davids, Kanoute, Defoe

not a 1999 anderton V's a 2009 Lennon but Anderton at his peak 95-97 walks all over Lennon. And would get in CM ahead of Carrick too. For this though it's 1999-2009 and we should pick the best players form wise who played in that time period.

does realism come into it? The best 2 CF's in that time period were Berbs and Teddy but in a real game who would really play both in the front line in the absence of someone more direct and pacey?

I'm not doing one.

Firstly I would totally disagree with that statment, but thats just opinion.

However if by your own admission a post 2000 Anderton could not be rated higher than Lennon how does this impact upon our team of THE DECADE? as in players who have performed for us during the years 2000-2009?

surely it has to be based on how players played during this time, not players who played during this time but were at their best before this time. based on that I also can't see a place for Sheringham as his best years were not of this decade for us.

for me...

......................Robinson
Corluka........King......Naybet.........Ziege

Lennon....Carrick......Palacios.......Modric

..................Berbatov....Defoe

I put Defoe in ahead of Keane although I would probably have to admit KEane has done more for the club over the decade. I prefer Defoe as a player and was less impressed by Keanes exit to Liverpool.

Ginola joined Villa in 2000 so I can't see an argument for putting him in our team of the decade either.

Maybe I'm being a but premature putting Palacios in after such a short spell at the club, but he does represent something we have been missing for many a year and between him and Davids I think (glamour aside) so far Palcios has been the most impressive (for us)

Sol Campbell? Eek

I think you'll find that the honest people in this thread, regardless of his act of betrayal and how much we hate him and would never have him back etc etc etc, accept that Campbell was a superb centre back and easily one of the top two we've had in the past decade.

lee was known at psv for his attacking not his defending. He was weak, if we had good full backs the year we finished 5th wed of finished 4th. He got bullied alot and was so one footed it was horrible.
So you are putting down our coming 5th instead of 4th to Lee? Eek He did not cook the Lasagne!

Lee was better than both BAE and defensively, and played without the benefit of a proper LM to protect and assist him, which left him exposed most of the time.
