Tbf Tielemans would be more realistic than Rabiot. More our sort of level. Don’t think we’d have much chance of convincing Rabiot to join.
I agree it's going to be tough convincing the ilk of Rabiot to join, but I think this is where the club have to evolve. This (more so the context rather than just one transfer) is what Poch is on about when he talks about making those final steps.

I guess even if we don't want to just wait and see, that's all we can do.

If a player on the level of Tielemans is deemed not good enough, but someone like Rabiot is too expensive for us to pull off, where does this leave us? What sort of players do we target?

We don't, you get the stalemate that is this window.

But it was the same in the summer?
Nope, the summer there will be cash available and (besides the dembele sized hole in midfield) the cash will come from the sales of Eriksen and/or Toby. Pochs quotes published earlier today hint at this.

I don't think its even just about too expensive, i think we are targeting players that don't particularly want to come to us. I feel like to players such as De Jong, Rabiot, Isco and whoever else we have been linked to by ITK we are probably their option D or E.

Can I not have an opinion? It's not my fault I feel like the club are fucking up in all sorts of ways. I'd love to be positive if I saw the positives. But there are NONE at this moment of time. I'm judt saying it how I see it. Just because it don't fit your narrative of it being all happy days at the club
NO POSITIVES....... WE ARE THIRD IN THE F*****G LEAGUE WITHOUT BUYING PLAYERS. Remove the "Without Buying players" from that sentence and ask yourself how many times in your life you've been able to say that with confidence?

I was actually referring to last summer.

Really isn't good enough that we have to rely on weakening our team by selling Eriksen and Toby before we sign anyone, if that's the case.

Again, read the quotes that were posted this morning, it's there in black and white from the man himself. No one has to like it, but it seems if we're going to evolve it'll be the only way.

I think these players would come to us if we offered them a big enough wage, while giving their agent a nice little payday...

That's the weak mentality of some of our fans. Yes we are 3rd without buying players. I'm proud, I don't blame the squad at all. It's a great achievement that we're that high with the squad we'e got.

However, don't you stop to think for a second where we could be if we DID buy quality players? I have ambition, which you don't seem to have.

This is silly. To have got him we would have had to pay him more than 300,000 he is getting from Barca and god knows how much more to his agent. I am glad we aren’t doing that. Too many on here just want to spend whatever is necessary and sod the consequences particularly the knock on effect on other players wages. It is becoming childish.

Rabiot maybe but im not sure about the others. You are probably right about the agent part tho, i can definitely see Levy not paying them enough to push the deals to their clients.

You have ambition to spend money we don’t have or to spend other people’s money.

Well we don't need a savior or even a player of Rabiot's quality at CM. We only have 3 fit CM's who can be trusted at this point and one of them isnt even a CM by trade.
this is where we disagree. I think we do need a hero. Well, I'm holding out for a hero, at least until the end of tomorrow night. But he's gotta strong and he's gotta be fast and since this is the PL he's gotta be up for the fight. In summary, I think we do need a hero.

:sorry:

I'm not saying that is what we are able to do financially, or should be doing. Just saying this is what it'll take to land the top players who we are currently option D or E to.

Isn't the whole point that Monaco only offered him for loan only?

And that LFC had a particular player they needed short term in Silva?

If there were a buy option up to be had, you'd have thought LFC would have pushed for it.

I'd thought maybe if we slapped £30m down they might take it, but actually I'm not so sure Monaco need the money enough to cash out on a long term investment like Tielemans. And does the cash help them fight relegation if Jardim wants Silva?

Cashing out early isn't what they do, nor do we develop other clubs players for them.

That said we're a £380,000,000 turnover club unable to buy one player that could possibly improve our XI, or our squad, over two straight windows, so clearly something isn't right.

Anyone know if any bookies are taking bets on us not signing anyone for a second consecutive window?

Got a mortgage I’d like to pay off
