If we were in League 1Jamie Slabber and Lee Barnard could’ve been our attack for a decade ?
If we were in League 1Jamie Slabber and Lee Barnard could’ve been our attack for a decade ?
Just the players I can remember that I thought could make it a bit further than they did:
Carter-Vickers, Caulker, Roles, Gomelt, Ceballos, Coulibaly, Oduwa, Onomah, Edwards (!), Azzaoui, Oakley-Boothe, Pritchard, maybe even Vejlikovic
Know someone who played against Oakley Booth and he promised me he would be the next best thing ? then he played for us and he looked amazing once in pre season I think
i thought there were more comparisons of TOB and Kirby?tob vs skipp was a bit of a thing amongst youth watchers at the time. i would say that tob was actually technically and athletically the more impressive of the two but skipp was light years ahead mentally. not just in a drive/desire type way but his grasp and general understanding of the game was immediately apparent, tob on the other hand whilst talented just didn't really 'get it' and as a result rarely impacted on many of the games he played.
since i started following the youth sides closely the best imo were onomah, kwp, edwards, skipp, parrott and cirkin. not a great return so far but still time for the latter three to turn it around. winks and tanganga i'd have had in the bracket just below funnily enough.

Caulker should have. He had all the physical attributes. Oduwa too.
Had the mispleasure of running into a drunk caulker one night, I'm so glad to see him coming back now mentally from where he was at looks like the birth of his son has done wonders
As previously mentioned I saw a lot of him in the reserves at Stevenage and was convinced he'd make the grade. We were playing Chelsea (I think in the third round of t'cup) and I said to my Chelsea supporting mate that he'd probably get a game and surprise them. I think he ended up hitting the inside of the post and the ball coming back out, it's on chances like that that a career can be made.To be fair to Yeates he’s been playing at a very good level for the best part of 15 years, that’s twice the average that most professional footballers last and he’s played mostly in the Championship and League 1, done very well all in all, I would say a very successful graduate. Most will be lucky to have half a career as successful as Yeates,
He is!Another one I thought would be a talent is Jesse Waller Lassen
Seem to recall Sherwood taking early decisions on Capoue and Holtby after giving them a last chance in a training ground friendly so that sounds about right. Very much an arm around the shoulders coach so he must have had the right hump (also knew he had youth players like Bentaleb and Veljkovic he trusted to bring in).i remember seeing Shash come on for his first youth team appearance he was so small and he scored after a few minutes - as far as Capoue it wasn't the silly fist team game it was a reseve game or U21 game at the training ground and I am sure it was Reading and it stood out as unusual becase Sherwood coated him in public and that was so unusual I thought he left soon after that but I could easily be wrong. I thought Capoue was a dreadful player to be honest
