Danny Rose. Yes he had some good seasons for us, but nothing quite matched his debut goal against the scum. I know he has his demons, but I think with the right manager at the right time, he could really have made the England LB position his own. Had he hit his potential, we probably would have lost him to Real Madrid!
Extremely harsh imo. I know he should of had a longer career, but he was the top LB in the premier league for at least a good two year stretch which is a remarkable standard for any player. While his off field antics didnt help him or the team at all, injuries are what really derailed him and he's at no fault for that.

Had really high hopes for Brad Friedel when he joined us. Thought he’d go on to become a star. Seems he peaked too soon. Good luck to him with whatever he is up to now.

Danny Hill was a prodigy, should’ve been the new Hoddle.

Nick Barmby had a good career, but he should’ve been the golden boy for England around the turn of the century. Would’ve been too if he’d not followed his cradle snatching Mrs up north.

Mark Yeates had such a good debut, played a lovely ball for Keane to slot away, then disappeared into obscurity.

Garry Brady looked very talented, pissed off to Newcastle (who were much better than us at the time) as he wasn’t getting many chances, got injured then had an ok career in the lower half of the SPL.

Troy Archibald-Henville, simply because if that's not the name of the Captain of a Space-cruiser, I don't know what is.

Oh, and Gio Dos Santos. He was one of them mint-pre-season guys for us. Glad he went on to find some success in America though.

Ally Dick, lovely little winger in the early 80's but too lightweight.
David Leworthy, another one from the early 80's. He was a goal machine at youth level and in the reserves, but never made the step up.

Dave Leworthy - didn't play for Spurs at youth level he came from non League (Fareham Town I didn't remember that) made his debut against Arsenal

I see Coubially come up one of the coaches described him 'as uncoachable'

Whilst watching the youth team when they moved over to Enfield for a few years before I moved house - it was criminal that Nathan Oduwa didn't make it, he had such a lot to offer but I always thought he was let down by Spurs a bit - I thought with his physique and pace moving him into a central role he would have thrived - but maybe he wasn't mentally strong enough

The other boy who was hugely skilful and not been mentioned was Ceballios he was all set to make his debut at White Hart Lane he was playing brilliantly at the time - Dempsey was struggling all week but just made it Ceballios didn't make the bench and never got another chance - little moments and just never know what might have happened

Going back a bit Danny Maddix who had a great career at QPR was really unlucky that Spurs siged Ruddock and his chance was gone

oduwa was more flash than substance for me. unquestionable talented, he almost played like he was unaware of what the actual point of the game is, which is to score more goals than your opponent, not humiliating the oppositions individual players with unbelievable skill.

I get that but he had ability he could beat a man and real acceleration of a standing start and you don't see that often. I know Mcdermott would totally have agreed with you but for me that's why I think he was let down a bit. Perhaps as his career has meandered it was down to his attitiude, personality call it what you want but I still think it was a waste

he didn't play particularly well that match and improved beyond belief for a brief period years later...

Anyone remember Darren Caskey?
He’s the only player I have ever seen live, be subbed on, and then score a free kick with his first touch.

If he hadn’t enjoyed drinking so much and being unable to keep his weight down, I feel he would have been a mainstay for us and could easily played for England.

Never mind all those lot, I was utterly convinced that I would go on to have a long, successful career captaining the club as a classy, ball-playing sweeper. Never really worked out though. Think it’s probably because the position of sweeper was largely being fazed out around the time I had expected to be signing professional forms with the club. And, of course, the scouts never got down to see me in my back garden. And I wasn’t particularly good. And I’ve only got one leg (only joking - that never really held me back).

The youth player I had highest hopes for did actually break through but, sadly, not for long.

Garry Brooke wasn't the most svelte player we ever had on our books. Indeed, the Swedish club who took him on loan as a kid called him 'Buddha'. Yet for a couple of seasons in the early eighties, he really didn't look out of place in what was a very fine midfield indeed.

Sadly for him, and indeed for us as I think he'd have gone on to be a very decent player, he was involved in a really bad car crash in the 1982-83 season. He'd just turned 22 and, although he came back the following season and played a few more games for us, he never truly recovered his form or fitness. Bloody shame.

Good list, thought I'd do a "where are they now" for those guys

Onomah - Fulham - as everyone knows but he hasn't made an impact with them in the prem yet which is a shame. Think he's injured or just not been selected.

Veljkovic - Bremen - is having a decent career their it seems although has lost his place in the lineup of late

Edwards - Vitoria SC - did well in Portugal last season, haven't heard much from him this season. I was hoping he would have got a move to a better team in Portugal.

Bentaleb - Schalke - did quite well for a while think he even had the no10 shirt at one time, don't think he did much at Newcastle on loan. He's recently been suspended by Schalke not sure why

Pritchard - Huddersfield - I thought he'd do better but not bad I guess

Coulibaly - Etoile Sportive - Tunisia.

Cameron Lancaster - Louisville City FC - playing in the USL. Not a bad life, currently has 9 goals in 14 games this season.

Christian Ceballos - Al-Wakrah - Qatar - Must be making good money at least

Nathan Oduwa - Dundalk - Had a few clubs in Eastern Europe but now finds himself in Ireland. Only 24 so still time to reach a higher level if he has it in him

Edwards - Vitoria SC - did well in Portugal last season, haven't heard much from him this season. I was hoping he would have got a move to a better team in Portugal.

onomah - picked up an injury three games into the season and isn't due to return until the new year, he was one of their best players in the 2nd half of last season so it's really frustrating that he's injured yet again.

veljkovic - has also only just returned from injury so that's why he hasn't played in the past couple of months, incidentally their form has been much worse without him.

edwards - was excellent last season especially after the lockdown, sporting lisbon tried to buy him but vitoria wanted a record fee(for them) which would have put him at 20m+. this season they sacked their coach(as well as their replacement leaving after three games) and are playing much more defensive. they've only scored 7 goals in 9 games so he's not been anywhere near as effective, they also sold one of their best players in the summer who edwards linked up well with. hopefully he can push on again and get a move to a better club next summer.

edit: here he is in action against super jan's benfica the other night -
