Didier Zokora has revealed that he wants to leave Tottenham in the summer.

The Ivory Coast midfielder has lost his first-team place to January signing Wilson Palacios.

Zokora admits he is not prepared to sit on the bench under Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.

"If I can't play regularly then I shall be looking to leave," he told Ivorian paper Super Sport.

"All my career I have been first choice and Harry likes me, but he also has good players but I need to play.

"The World Cup is in June 2010 and I can't sit on the bench if I want to be in the Ivorian squad.

"I am working hard to impress and get back in the team and I would like the season to finish on a high - but it is hard for me after being dropped."

*cue Real Madrid rumors*

Not surprised really. With Jenas out and Huddlestone stepping in, it leaves Zokora feeling like he's not needed. I'd like him to stay as a backup player, but he's probably too good for that. He'd get into a team like Portsmouth or Fulham so he might look to leave. Replace him with a quality holding midfielder.

Well if his attitude does become one of 'play me or I leave' rather then trying to fight for his place and prove he warrents in then frankly he can leave without anyone blinking an eye I assume

Bye Bye :adios:

He's a great athleate, but a very average footballer imo, and besides, if Zokora leaves, that might present more of a chance of Huddlestone staying.

To be honest, I think it was pretty obvious that the arrival of Wilson would be the end of Zokora's Spurs career. Whether it be this summer, January, or next summer.

NOOOOOOOOO DIDI! I really don't want him to leave before scoring for us. It would be a travesty. He really is a very useful player, covers many positions, a real jack of all trades, a real master of none unfortunately for him.

Can see alot of people will be happy with this news. To be fair to him he has always given his best for the club. He had the hard task of replacing Carrick which despite them being different types of players I think he failed todo. As someone mentioned above a great athlete i cant remember him being beaten for pace by many players. But not the best of players with the ball and i think he sometimes struggles to impose himself on games. Will be sad to see him go as could see him being a useful back up to Wilson.

Heard a great comment on zokora eaerlier in the season

"cant shoot, cant pass, cant tackle but he runs around alot"

never was a truer word spoken, not exactly gonna be a big loss.

Zokora would have a hard task replacing Freund!

I can see why he wants to leave. I don't blame him. He is a limited player but his commitment can never be questioned.

Before anyone sticks the knife into him, remember that this is a man who can't shoot and can't look at penalties when they are being taken but he took a penalty against PSV and scored when the likes of Malbranque (former penalty taker for fulham) and Lennon did not.
So for that alone he deserves some respect.

I dont get some of you people. Didier gives his all for the club, and whilst he may not be the best footballer he trys his heart out and loves the club. He's much better than O'hara for a start, who also trys very hard, yet most of you all love him.

Fairly sure JOH is going to Fulham. Not 100% confirmed but several ITKs have said it (not that i'd trust them but it makes sense)
