Another totally anonymous performance by DZ. However badly he plays he is NEVER substituted. Instead Lennon and Keane our most effective attacking players on the day are taken off . Is it written into Zokora's contract that he cannot be substituted ?

I thought Zoko was pretty decent today. Didn't throw himself at anyone, held the midfield at a good pace.

Maybe it's because he didn't actually play badly. He was excellent first half. Can you remember that far back?

Yep that's why we were overrun in the second half. Never saw him after the break.

Lennon was pretty effective too in the first half , kept them on the back foot. Yet that did not stop him being dragged off. Again. Even if you think Zokora had a good first half ( just OK imo ) I always thought a match lasted for 90 minutes. Or does the second half not count ? What did he contribute in the second half ? And why is he never taken off ?

And what about the rest of the midfield second half? He was our best midfielder first half and all of them were crap second half, so you decided to single Zokora out. Says it all really.

No it says it all that Lennon and Malbranque are regularly substituted. Zokora is not.

Zokora had an OK first half. Kept passing the ball backwards but I was willing him to try looking up and make a forward pass. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt by saying that it's part of the "Makelele school of DMs" mantra to keep possession.

Second half though he was nowhere. To be fair, so was Jenas, but I'll save that for any one of the many JJ-bashing thread.

Back to Zokora. He's been here almost two years now and if he hasn't done it so far, he isn't going to in the future. Pound for pound I do wonder why Tainio isn't given a fair crack at the whip and I'll put it down to the fact that we paid 8.2m for Zokora and nothing for Tainio.

My point, and I do have one, is Comolli out. Throwing money at the problem in the summer is no good if Comolli's the one who's gonna spend it.

To be honest, post half-time Malbranque has nothing to give us. At least Zokora still tries to make runs. Not all being successful runs, though.

He pretty much did what he was supposed to in this game......not to many players can say that. So please :shhh:

Yes, you're right, it does say it all. It says Zokora has been playing more or less consistently well, hence not being substituted as much.

For me, the logical change at HT was Hudd for Malbranque.

Lennon didn't play the whole 120 mins vs PSV and he was not getting much luck down City's left cos Onuoha was covering Garrido. When he shifted to our left he looked lively again.

I'm thinking Ramos wanted to try JJ out on the right flank cos JJ isn't good enough to be first choice CM for a top 6 side.

The changes didn't work for Ramos today but I'll reserve judgement on him til this time next year when he'll hopefully be playing his players, not Comolli's players.

I cant see Ramos starting with Zoko next season If he gets the players in that he wants.

For me he'd be an excellent squad player for a top side but shouldn't be in the starting XI in central midfield playing 442.

That's what I thought.

Can't believe people are having another pop at Zokora, best midfielder today. I would like to see him do more but that doesn't mean he's a bad player. Yes, criticise him if you please, but don't single him out when other players have performed worse. There's not a midfielder I would be sorry to see leave, and that includes Lennon.

Just to see what you're about....

Do you see Jenas as a starter
