I like the style of football they bring to their teams and think they could do well for us, obviously guardiola is a no hoper but rijkaard is certainly possible.

I think it would be Martinez if Harry left.

I wouldn't be against that. I would think he needs a bit of help with identifying the right level of player though.

Well, that's not condascending!
Why would he need help? Is he not a top tier manager in, possibly, the top division of his sector?
Do you not think he's aware of possible employees out there considering he deals in possibly the most visible market that exists?
Who would help him? You?

There arent that many realistic and available candidates at first glance, but if we are to be looking for a new manager then maybe Levy will surprise us all again and get in someone totally from left field. I was amazed that Harry was appointed last time around, never thought we would be after him. Maybe the same again and a surprising appointment... thats if there is a vacancy!

in fact i've gone full circle, I wanted him out and was outraged by what he did to us concerning england job. However, with the options out there that are attainable while in the Europa league and the problems it might create in the playing staff I am firmly against him leaving now. I really think that penalty shoot out for chelsea has basically knocked us back 5 years in terms of targets, who we may attract who stays and where we go from here. I think it's too big of a coincidence that Chelsea still have no manager, have bought half our targets and Harry may leave. Im gonna bet on him for chelsea manager and will not be suprised in the slightest if i win.

With what resources though?

He got shit players playing good football and dominating teams like Newcastle and Man Utd. You need to get things in context.

martinez is a decent manager and i think hes done a great job with wigan, but seriously, all this talk of people like him and lambert as targets to replace redknapp who got us our 2 highest finishes.

if levy is going to take the risk and chop him, he NEEDS to have a top class replacement waiting, someone who knows how to work with top quality players, and knows how to work the transfer market in charge of a big team.

After all, thats most of the problem with harry, he was always a small club manager, who made his name buying old, experienced players on the cheap and getting a few more years from them. Now he's at a big club, he's found it hard to adapt from suddenly having no budget and expectations to having targets of £15m value. I havent really worded it concisely, but redknapps problem is that he still thinks that 'good' signings for portsmouth/southampton are still classed as 'good' signings for a team like us. We need someone used to managing top level teams.

Because Rijkaard's been such a huge success everywhere but Barça, right?

In all seriousness, judging by Ryan's and JJetset's comments, it appears a very real possibility that Harry could be off. I think this is unbelievable considering everything, however, it's obvious Harry has his faults and Levy may have lost patience. In my opinion, Levy HAS to go big. As much as Rodgers had got potential which will now be tested at Liverpool, I think we're in a position now where we're past experimenting with up and coming managers like Rodgers, Martinez and Lambert, despite the fact they may well end up bring brilliantly successful (especially Lambert). I think we have to go for someone who has been there and won it, which leaves only a handful of possibilities. Most of these are unattainable but one of Mourinho, Pep, Hiddink, Capello (not so much since England but club record is unbelievable) and a couple of others. The one I wouldn't be over the moon about is Ancelotti, I don't know why, it just doesn't excite me.

That's what I hope for anyway.

Oh, that's why you're in love with Giovani Dos Santos.

See Chelsea have all but wrapped up hulk..

no messing about getting players in. hate them but love the way roman goes about his business.

long summer ahead for us, i have no doubt. before we know it it will end of euro's and modric going apeshit for a move to united!!

i predict a modric sell of around 30 m and incomings to be little under that.

Top class managers will largely already be managing top class teams.

Sometimes you just need to take a punt on ability over status. That is one thing they do in other countries better than us.

Look at Conte at Juve. He was managing in Serie B last season with Siena.

He has just completed an unbeaten season at Juve.

If we have another Jol-Ramos debacle on our hands, the Dear Leader can fuck right off.

Wow. Some big news from jj - if I'm not reading too much into it that is. If Harry leaves it'll be us wheeling out yet another manager - I just hope this time we have an eye on long term plans.

You mean calling every club in the world to inquire about their best player and then chucking £50m at them? Yeah, gotta admire it...

I'd rather we take our time (not a long time, a few weeks) and get players in for a reasonable price.

If we are going to take that as an arguement we are being hypocrites. Martinez got them pllayin great football for two months, what the hell happened for the first 6 months of the season, THEY WERE BOTTOM?
If we are going to criticise Harry for having a poor two/three months even though the rest of the season we played the best football in the league then we can't claim Martinez is the right choice based on two months of good football? Martinez hasnt proved anything, it's a well known fact that teams with nothing to lose are very dangerous. Its all well and good playing good football when youhave nothing to lose but totally differet matter playing it when your expected to win 65% of your games.

Agreed all the way, until Ancelotti - reckon he'd be the one to take us to the next level.
He's a winner, won things, wants to come to London. Just think he's not going to leave PSG now they've got CL and money - seems Lavezzi's on his way.
