Or Kaboul might be off as well?

Unless we are sure he's permacrocked, he deserves another season to try and find some form. Last season can't be taken into account given he'd just returned from a long-term injury and was playing for a rookie manager.

I'm sorry but levy's very similar, under market value signings, needed or not
Absolutely no comparison whatsoever, chelsea are running a market trader business with young players many of whom they have absolutely no intention of playing but know they will make profits on, they are effectively running a seperate player dealing company alongside and under the guise of chelsea football club, last year they had more players out on loan than Spurs and arsenal put together and more than either one of those two plus liverpool and Man Utd put together, that is industrial scale loaning, they don't do retail they do wholesale.

'Major signings' I'm assuming either means in terms of price or quantity.
Davies, a CB to compete with Chiriches for 2nd spot next to Jan and a creative spark, either in terms of what a Schneiderlin can offer our play or perhaps a pacy wide left player and I'd be delighted.
Ironically I feel that would be major in how would improve what I feel to be a top quality squad already.

Why did we sign pienaar then? We had bale and kranks for that position and be barely played, we signed holtby and seemingly had no idea what to do with him, has falque ever really been given a chance? Jj said we signed sigs without even scouting him, got tipped off by Barnett about him. Players bought with no plan other than to try and turn a profit off imho

We may want them to become stars but we buy with a sell on in mind. Cebellos, Falque, Khumolo, Dos Santos, Boeteng, Taarabt etc...

OK, I have no idea what the Lloris bit is about? What's he got to do with me asking what happens if we're in 8th at Xmas, but only a couple of points off top/CL?

Bold part 1 - We have Vertonghen & Chiriches, as well as young Fryers. None of them spent 3/4 of last season injured.

Bold part 2 - Have we sold Eriksen? Pochettino plays 1 striker, with attackers supporting him. Eriksen is about as "top quality lwf" as we're ever likely to get, and other clubs, better clubs than THFC, would love to have him!

Bold part 3 - It's already being worked on, what's the problem?

Bold part 4 - How about seeing what our new manager, a manager who has something of a reputation for improving & getting the best out of the players at his disposal, can do with talents like Lamela, Holtby, Carroll etc etc, before deciding we need to throw millions of pounds around?

You paint an unnecessarily bleak picture.

Our manager has only one season with some youngsters already coming through from the best academy in the country where is all this poch is so Good and coaching and bringing talent through.
Lets wait a season or two and then judge how good he really is until then i cant see the fuss yet but i hope of course he does ok.

It seems we're targeting the right positions, but not really upgrading

Well we're going to have to make some cutbacks if we're building a new stadium, and we're also not the big stature we need to be to convince players to join regardless. Yes, Ricardo Rodriguez would improve us, yes Antoine Griezmann would improve us, yes John Stones would improve us, but these would all cost a lot of money that we don't really have.

Ben Davies is an exciting young talent, as is Lascelles. They're not world-beaters, but we're in no position to sign world beaters. We seem to be taking an approach that a club of our positioning should - we're taking calculated risks that can be written off as admissible should they go wrong. It is what we should, and kind of have to do.

Love the way you only answer the bits you want too(y)
Answers: verts and vlad?? Dawson to be sold and kaboul who missed a Whole season. And we had itk that he may have to retire. Can't wait for everyone's reaction when zeki is starting at the back....
If eriksen is to be played on the left who sits in the middle?? And like I said what if he gets injured?? Not one once of creativity in our team. Have you forgotten how poor Lennon, Townsend chadli etc were last year. No pressure on an unproven in the prem lamella. Oh and a left back who ardgavidan (swans itk) says the club ain't to fussed about losing for that money because they think the understudy is better anyway.
I want to be positive mate, but when you take away the fact that poch may not get these players playing well together we arg back to last season.

Re Ali Z saying we will buy another CH and LWF but they won't be superstars, I would say this doesn't rule out us paying £10-15m for each player as this seems to be the going rate these days for average/young prospects.
So essentially we want ether Jay Rod or Remy for LWF, cant say i am particularly happy about that. I am hoping that it could be Kono but i just don't see it.

The only positions we really need upgrading are LB and possibly CB. It's about thinning the numbers for the youth to be given a chance while still providing competition for the likes of Rose, which may end up pushing him to improve. We don't need a lot of 'major' signings. We had that last summer.

I can't speak of Lascelles as I don't really know him, but Davies is not an exciting young talent in my eyes. He's an average footballer that won't improve us.
I don't ask for players like the ones you've mentioned. I think there are several non expensive players we could get.

But, we have been spending absolutely nothing this past windows, and we've already sold for 14m. And we will sell more.
I would prefer to spend all of it in a player that would improve us, than to spend it in 4 average players. For example I prefer to spend 20m in Ricardo Rodriguez than 10 in Davies and 10 in J Rod

Quite excited to see us resume playing under Pochettino for the new season, even if we only make a few low key signings as has been suggested. I've got a feeling we will have an exciting season ahead to look forward to.

We've not signed anyone yet, but yet we have people complaining about the signings we might make.

I don't want him for the simple fact that people on here are already moaning. The poor guy will have no chance playing for us unless he does a Bale.

New Manager known for an entertaining brand of footbal and working with youngsters.
Our best player signs a new contract, our 2nd best player is on the verge of signing a new deal.
Great news on the stadium front.
But instead of feeling positive we are moaning that we may not be overly active in the transfer window or make any marquee signings one year on from spending £107m (don't talk to me about net spend).
We're a very special bread of human aren't we ? Haha

Surely its up to the management to then upgrade them when they are at our training ground!! Buy the right players for the right positions is the right thing, they dont necessarily have to be upgrades straight away!
